Registrations are now open for FragPunk's forthcoming closed beta test (CBT) on Steam and Xbox, which is scheduled to start in early October 2024, as announced by NetEase Games and Bad Guitar Studio during the Gamescom Xbox Broadcast.
To recap, FragPunk is a 5v5 tactical hero shooter that will be released in 2025. In each match, players will be able to change the rules by drawing new Shard Cards. There are different weapons, special abilities for each hero, and a rotating selection of Shard Cards that change every round. These cards affect your team, your weapons, and even the weather, giving you the chance to beat your enemies.

FragPunk's Closed Beta Test Pre-Registrations Now Open
The CBT is scheduled to commence in early October 2024, with the exact dates to be disclosed next month.
Beginning August 23, 2024, players can register for the CBT by visiting the game's Steam page or by joining the Xbox Insider program.
This Beta Test will welcome a larger pool of players from more regions, including Europe, North America, Latin America, Japan, and South Korea, in comparison to the previous Alpha Test.
The test will include a variety of new and enhanced features, such as heroes, cards, and modes. Additional information regarding the new content will be provided later in September. The game will also be available on Xbox, and cross-platform play will enable Xbox and PC users to compete against one another.
At the Gamescom 2024 event, FragPunk's first official gameplay trailer showcased Shard Card mechanics and their various effects and interactions. In addition, the trailer showcased Duel Mode, a new tiebreaker mechanic.
A recent segment on Shroud's YouTube channel included FragPunk's tiebreaker Duel Mode. The tiebreaker mechanic is used when both teams have three-round victories. To determine the winner, players face off in 1v1 duel gunfights with one life apiece. The winner fights the next opponent, allowing one team member to lead the side to victory.
On the other hand, FragPunk's popularity grew between its reveal and June's Closed Alpha test. The number of test applications exceeded expectations and gave the team useful input. Players and streamers invited to the Closed Alpha appreciated its unique aesthetics and interesting gameplay loop, which kept the pressure on due to shard cards' ever-changing nature.
FragPunk also revealed a video boasting beautiful visuals that showcase the game's raytracing and NVIDIA DLSS 3 with Frame Generation.
