TFT Set 17 Space Gods, first major update in 2026

TFT Set 17 Space Gods, first major update in 2026

In Teamfight Tactics: Space Gods, the much-awaited Set 17 of TFT, players compete for the favor of temperamental Gods in a huge, intergalactic section of the Convergence. Per Riot Games, its autobattler game typically releases three new sets each year, and Space Gods is the first one in 2026.

The first major update of TFT (Patch 17.1) was initially launched on PBE (Public Beta Environment) servers on March 31 and is slated to fully launch on mobile and PC platforms on April 15.

Riot Games showed Space Gods' ethereal gameplay, charismatic Gods, new champions and traits, and stunning skins in a TFT Dev Drop video dated March 28. Instead of TFT's carousel, the set's Realm of the Gods mechanic shows the Gods in activity in a celestial marketplace. The sci-fi fantasy Space Gods will bring veterans and newbies to the final frontier with a unique and artistic experience.

Noemi Coute, TFT Set 17 design lead, stated:
Space Gods intertwines the sci-fi and fantasy genres, and marks TFT's closest collaboration yet between our Art, Design, and UX teams. We really loved our third set, Galaxies, and we were thrilled to revisit that thematic space with everything we've learned over the years. With the Realm of the Gods mechanic replacing the carousel for the first time in TFT's history, we're offering players an opportunity to see our Gods in all their glory. It's a novel experience that combines vibrant illustrations with dynamic gameplay.

Champions

  • Pyke, Master Yi, and Maokai return after a long absence. Meanwhile, Fiora, Vex, Graves, Shen, and Blitzcrank become 5-cost champs for the first time alongside Sona, Morgana, Zed, Bard, and Jhin.
  • LeBlanc will receive a TFT exclusive skin from a new League of Legends skinline.

Key Summons

  • Bia and Bayin, an ephemeral mom-daughter duo, and Primordian Swarmlings, inspired by League of Legends' Swarm game mode, debut in Space Gods.

Traits and Origins

  • Meeple: Meeple are spacefarers who are accompanied by their companion Meeps, fighting with them together and boosting their abilities. Fielding and starring up additional Meeple will produce more Meeps. Riot made one powerful Meep a two-cost tank, TFT-exclusive champion Meepsie.
  • Anima: Anima, a high-risk trait, grants you tech for each loss and takedown. Every 100 tech reached, they prototype fresh Anima Weapons. Take them or save them for stronger weapons. Although any champion can utilize Anima Weapons, they work best with certain Anima units. Anima draws on high-risk traits from earlier sets and allows flexible play that made them successful.
  • Dark Star: Dark Star units can cause Black Holes. They generate a massive board-side Black Hole that consumes low-health opponents. Your most powerful Dark Star unit becomes Supermassive and receives more trait bonuses as you progress.
  • Stargazer: Every game, stargazers record a different constellation to establish the hex pattern that empowers allies. Leveling up reveals more pattern hexes. Play seven constellations with varied effects. Stargazer Lulu alters her spell depending on the constellation picked in that game.
  • Factory New: Graves, TFT's 5-cost champion, has a Factory New trait that lets you choose a permanent upgrade every few rounds. It lets players transform him into a tank or heavy damage carry.
  • Mecha: Each of the three Mecha units can turn into their ultimate form. Transformed Mechas replace two team slots, acquire bonus stats and abilities, and boost their trait by 1.
  • Fateweaver: Every Fateweaver has precision; therefore, their abilities can crit. The more Fateweavers you field, the luckier you get, as each unit's abilities can be upgraded.

Gods

The following famous TFT champions are now in God-tier:
  • Soraka, God of Stars
  • Yasuo, God of the Abyss
  • Ahri, God of Opulence
  • Thresh, God of Pacts
  • Kayle, God of Order
  • Varus, God of Love
  • Evelynn, God of Temptation
  • Ekko, God of Time
  • Aurelion Sol, God of Wonders

New Set Mechanic

  • The Realm of the Gods set mechanic replaces TFT's carousel with a celestial marketplace that displays the Gods' offerings.
  • Every game begins with two randomly picked gods visiting the Realm of the Gods to woo and reward players.
  • In the midst of each stage, players return to the Realm and choose between the two gods' offerings. On stages 2, 3, and 4, select a god's Realm offerings at least twice to align with them. Your chosen God will give you a special gift in stages 4-7.

New Augments

  • The TFT Space Gods update adds 40 Augments, including 8 Hero Augments that offer champions new abilities. Zed, an infinite-cloning 5-cost champion, is yours with one Hero Augment.
