Globe has activated its SurfAlert service to all of its Postpaid customers for free. SurfAlert feature is a permanent service that protects postpaid customers from unexpected browsing and charges. The service has been automatically enabled to all Globe Postpaid subscribers since August 6, 2021.
With the new SurfAlert service, Globe Postpaid customers can now control their data usage to ensure worry-free surfing and prevent unwanted data charges. This addresses a customer’s dilemma as mobile data has become necessary for online transactions and activities.
Besides fully managing their data consumption, Globe Postpaid customers will also get a notification once their monthly data plan allowance is fully consumed so they can decide whether to stop browsing or to avail of data add-ons. This restores customers’ control over their data experience and spending.
According to Globe, they are optimistic that turning on the SurfAlert feature will help Postpaid customers manage the charges to their monthly plan. As more Filipinos nowadays are also mindful of extra telco charges during these trying times.
“SurfAlert gives customers more power of choice over their data usage and, accordingly, their digital lifestyle. This is just one of the many innovative services that we are rolling out proactively to help customers succeed in the new normal,” said Darius Delgado, Head of Consumer Mobile of Globe Telecom.
SurfAlert can determine whether a site is available for free browsing. If opening a page results in data charges, the browser suspends browsing and alerts the user.
Moreover, SurfAlert can detect background activity from mobile apps that connect to the internet automatically. If the subscriber’s monthly data plan allowance has been used up, SurfAlert temporarily stops the internet connection and notifies the user to register to a data promo in order to remain connected online.
The data add-ons available for Globe Postpaid are:
- SURF4ALL249 – 20GB of data valid for seven days
- GoBOOST199 – 5GB of data for 30 days
- GoBOOST99 – 1GB of data for 30 days
