Valorant x XG Collab
Riot Games and Japan-based hip hop and R&B-inspired girl group XG announced the upcoming release of their collab single titled "Undefeated" for the VCT Pacific 2024 tournament.
On April 12, 2024, "Undefeated" will be available on all streaming platforms, and the official music video will be aired on the VCT Pacific YouTube channel.
"Undefeated" is XG's first gaming collaboration project. This will be followed by their single, "Woke Up," which is scheduled to release on May 21, 2024. Simon, also known as JAKOPS, XG's Executive Producer, personally oversaw the production of the song, infusing it with the signature confidence and colorful style unique to XG.
XG is a group of seven members who are inspired by Hip-hop and R&B. The group consists of JURIN, CHISA, HARVEY, HINATA, JURIA, MAYA, and COCONA. In March 2022, the group debuted with their first single 'Tippy Toes.' In September 2023, they released their first Mini Album, 'NEW DNA,' which reached number one on Billboard JAPAN's 'Hot Albums.' In November of the same year, the J-Pop group held their first solo live audience showcase, 'XG 'NEW DNA' SHOWCASE in JAPAN' at the Pia Arena MM. They have performed all over the world, including major music festivals in the United States, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, and the UAE. XG has made multiple global landmarks, including being the first Japanese artist to top the 'Hot Trending Songs Powered by Twitter' on the Billboard charts and appearing on the cover of 'Billboard' magazine as the first Japanese girls group.
Fans of XG and VCT Pacific can expect a new song that conveys an inspiring message of "fearlessly seizing victory at all times". The track features a heavy bassline, minimalistic drum composition, and dreamy synthesizers. The song is sung by the distinctive vocals of XG members, with the intention of energizing those who dare to take on challenges.
Jake Sin, Head of VALORANT Esports APAC at Riot Games, said:
We're thrilled to collaborate with XG on the creation of UNDEFEATED for VCT Pacific. We hope the track will not only bring more hype to what will undoubtedly be a thrilling VCT Pacific season but also demonstrate our commitment to our passionate community. It is the love and support from our fans so far that have encouraged us to seek more creative avenues for expression. We are grateful to work with XG to bring such a special track to life and hope our fans in the region and beyond will enjoy it as much as we do.
JAKOPS (SIMON), executive producer of XGALX, said:
I wanted to bring deep emotion and excitement to Valorant players worldwide and to everyone who loves music. While producing 'UNDEFEATED,' I aimed to convey the spirit of being 'undefeated' to listeners, just as the title suggests. Through this collaboration, I hope that everyone, including members of ALPHAZ as well as all players, will embrace the spirit of dreams, challenges, and never losing in competition, just like XG. I believe that the effort of artists on stage and the determination and effort of players striving for victory in matches are one and the same. Like XG and myself, I hope that the unwavering determination to move forward, even when the road ahead is not smooth, resonates with everyone. Additionally, I hope that this collaboration will be a great gift, along with the synergy that can only be shown through music to fans worldwide, in the VALORANT Champions Tour Pacific League.
Valorant Champions Tour Pacific (VCT Pacific) is one of the four international leagues that form the Valorant Esports ecosystem. Along with VCT Americas, VCT EMEA, and VCT CN, pro-teams will battle through their respective leagues to qualify for VCT global events such as Masters and Champions.
As VCT Pacific Kickoff and Masters Madrid have come to a close, VCT Pacific teams are now preparing themselves for Stage 1 of the season. This stage will be the ultimate chance for them to represent their region at the second global event of the year, Masters Shanghai. Starting from April 6 to May 12, 2024, Seoul, South Korea, will host the Stage 1 games.
Teams will then compete in Stage 2 for a chance to qualify for VCT Champions 2024, the ultimate VALORANT esports event where they will contend for the world championship title.
