Smart leads 5G network in the Philippines with 7 wins —Opensignal
Smart dominates the 5G mobile network in the Philippines with seven wins, according to Opensignal’s first 5G Experience Report.
Opensignal 5G Mobile Experience Awards, Philippines - October 2021
The October 2021 report showed Smart as the outright winner in five out of seven categories, including 5G Availability, both of Opensignal’s speed awards (5G Download Speed and 5G Upload Speed), as well as two out of three experiential awards (5G Video Experience and 5G Games Experience).
Opensignal also declared Smart and Globe as joint winners in the remaining two categories – 5G Reach and 5G Voice App Experience – as the results are statistically tied.
Smart is ahead of Globe in terms of 5G availability, despite Globe’s higher volume of 5G users.
On 5G Video Experience, Smart earned 77.9 points surpassing Globe’s 75.7 points. Both operators, however, have been placed in the Excellent (75 or higher) category. This indicates a highly consistent experience across all users, video streaming providers, and resolutions evaluated, with fast loading times and almost non-existent buffering.
Moreover, Smart defeated Globe in the Games Experience category, scoring 71.9 points on a 100 point scale. In comparison to Globe’s 66 points, Smart was 5.9 points ahead (9 percent).
In the 5G Download Speed category, Smart reached 178.1 Mbps, which is 78 Mbps faster than Globe’s 100.1 Mbps. Smart, on the other hand, boasted a big lead in the 5G Upload Speed category, with consumers reporting average upload speeds of 18.4 Mbps. This gives it a 7.8 Mbps (72.7 percent) performance advantage over Globe.
Opensignal’s 5G Experience Report for October 2021 is based on the independent analysis of mobile user experience measurements taken between July 1 and September 28, 2021.
