A primer for Honor of Kings at Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025 was revealed by Tencent, giving an overview of the tournament's format, teams, schedule, prize pool, and qualifiers. Check out more details below.

For the unversed, the Esports World Cup is a top annual electronic sports event celebrating competitive brilliance and fandom. In a new cross-game structure, the world's top esports clubs compete for the greatest prize pool ever. In the summer of 2025, the EWC will return to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to declare the next Esports World Cup Club Champion.

HOK at EWC 25

Honor of Kings World Cup (KWC) is returning to EWC bigger and better than ever before, with an enormous USD 3 million (~PHP 166M) prize pool and more participating teams.

As part of a three-year deal bringing Honor of Kings back in 2026, the KWC at 2025 EWC will feature top squads, including KPL representatives, after the Chinese league's dream team won last year.

HOK at EWC 2025: Qualifiers

  • The Indonesia League (IKL) Spring runs until June 1, with the top three teams qualifying for EWC.
  • Philippine League (PKL) Spring runs until June 8, with the top three teams qualifying for EWC.
  • Malaysia League (MKL) Spring runs until June 7, with the top three teams qualifying for EWC.
  • The King Pro League (KPL) runs until May 10, with the top team qualifying for EWC.
  • Wildcard Series (WKS) runs until May 25, with the top team qualifying for EWC.
  • CHOKBR Fall runs until June 8, with the top two teams qualifying for EWC.
  • The Major East (KME) and Major West (KMW) both run until May 4, with the top team from each qualifying for EWC.
  • The Major Last Call (KME + KMW LCQ) runs till May 4, with the top team qualifying for EWC.
  • The champions of the Asian Champions League (ACL): China, which takes place between May 14 and May 18, will also qualify for EWC.
  • The EWC Online Qualifier: MENA runs on May 21 and 23, with the top team qualifying for EWC.

The Honor of Kings Invitational Midseason x Esports World Cup debuted in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with the KPL Dream Team at the forefront.

Proudly representing China, KPL Dream Team defeated LGD Gaming with a 3-0 sweep in the grand finals to cement their dominance over the twelve best teams.
