Globe Telecom has announced that it will install about 1,700 new cell sites by year-end.
From January to March 2022, the telco said it built 234 cell sites nationwide, upgraded 2,344 mobile sites to 4G, and installed 380 5G sites.
The “aggressive” network rollout was supported by Globe’s investment reaching PHP 21 billion for the quarter, or 24% of its PHP 89 billion full-year capital expenditures. Approximately 82% of the budget was allotted to data-related expenses.
In a statement, Globe said that the deployment of additional cell sites would allow more customers to experience its #1stWorldNetwork.
Joel Agustin, SVP and Head of Network Planning and Engineering, Globe Network Technical Group, said that these metrics show the “intensive investments” they’ve made to improve customer experience on their network.
Agustin added that they believe that “consistency is the most important experience metric” because customers care not only about speed but also about consistency.

On May 23, Globe revealed that its mobile data revenue for the first quarter of 2022 set a new record high. The telecommunications provider reported mobile data revenues of PHP 20.8 billion, representing 78 percent of total mobile revenues.
