LoL and TFT Content Migration Guide (Garena to Riot Games)

Riot Games' publishing partnership with Garena is coming to an end after 12 years. With this, Riot Games will self-publish League of Legends (LoL) and Teamfight Tactics (TFT) in Southeast Asia (SEA), which includes the Philippines.

As part of the publishing transition, Riot Games will launch new LoL and TFT servers, while Garena servers will close by January 2023. Riot said that it is collaborating closely with Garena to ensure that players' account data is preserved during the account migration process. The migration of services from Garena to Riot requires accounts to be linked for account data to be synced and transferred.

That being said, Riot prepared an Account Migration Microsite (https://ift.tt/G6HoaK2) to help Southeast Asian players migrate their Garena account data to new or existing Riot IDs. The account linking process will start on November 18, 2022.

In this article, you will know what progress and content will be retained from your LoL Garena account to Riot Games after migration.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
  • If you're migrating your active Garena LoL account to a new Riot account (or one without any LoL progression), all the content listed below will transfer (except for honor history, purchase history, match history, and career stats).
  • If you log in to play LoL or transfer your account to SEA after the publishing transition, but before linking your Garena LoL account, check the LoL and TFT content migration guide below.

Account Content

  • ContentPost-Migration Action
  • Emotes – Merge
  • Skins – Merge
  • Champions – Merge
  • Tacticians – Merge
  • Booms – Merge
  • TFT Boards – Merge
  • Icons – Merge
  • Blue/Orange Essence – Add
  • RP – Add
  • Star Shards – Add
  • Loot Inventory – Add

All of your account content (skins, icons, champions, emotes, and in-game currency like Blue/Orange Essence and RP) will be merged.

This means that your currency and loot inventories (like Hextech Chests, Event Passes, Clash Tickets, etc.) will be added together.

For any additional loot that may have duplicates (like skins, emotes, champions, etc.), your inventory will be consolidated into a single copy of each item. However, your extra copies will not be wasted. Instead, Riot Games will add up the RP value of the duplicate content and convert it into Welcome Capsules, which you will automatically receive some time after the migration.

Meanwhile, Garena Shells will not be transferred. And since Garena Shells will not transfer over to your Riot LoL account, Riot Games recommend using them to make any planned purchases prior to the migration.

Progression

  • ContentPost-Migration Action
  • Champion Mastery – Overwrite
  • Honor – Overwrite
  • Challenges – Overwrite
  • Ranked History – Overwrite
  • League Rank/LP – Reset
  • TFT Rank/LP – Overwrite
  • Missions Reset
  • Battle Pass Progress – Reset

Champion mastery, honor, challenges, and ranked history will all transfer from your Garena LoL account, overwriting any progress you might have made before the link on your Riot LoL account.

Your current LoL rank and League Points (LP), however, will reset. Riot sees the migration as an opportunity for a fresh ranked start, which is why they are starting a new ranked season on the Southeast Asia servers shortly after the migration is complete. You can play before then, but your ranked progress will not be tracked.

Missions and Battle Pass Progress across both LoL and TFT are also getting a full reset. However, Riot is implementing accelerated mission progress following the migration and is hoping to do the same for Battle Pass progress.

Social Features
  • ContentPost-Migration Action
  • Summoner Name – Overwrite (only accounts with a played game from January 1, 2021, to January 6, 2023)
  • Friend List – Overwrite (only migrated friends)

Your Garena LoL summoner name would be reserved for you if you played at least one game between January 1, 2021, and January 6, 2023. In this case, your Riot LoL summoner name will be overwritten with your existing Garena LoL summoner name, enabling you to continue your legacy on our new servers.

If you're linking a Garena LoL/TFT account that has not played a game since January 1, 2021, you will be prompted to select a new summoner name upon logging in to your Riot LoL account post-migration. This can be your old name if it's still available, but if you'd like to keep your Garena LoL summoner name, get a game in before the migration.

Your Garena LoL friend list will overwrite your Riot LoL friend list, but it will only be populated with friends who have also migrated.
