GCash Overseas debuts in Japan, Australia, Italy

GCash announced that its mobile wallet service can now be used abroad with international SIM cards in select countries, including Japan, Australia, and Italy. This makes the e-wallet the first and only in the country to do so.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) approved the beta launch of GCash Overseas, allowing Filipinos in Australia, Italy, and Japan to sign up for GCash even without a Philippine SIM.

Martha Sazon, GCash president and CEO, said:
We continue to make a difference in Filipinos' lives by making financial services easier and more accessible to our now 76 million-strong registered users. With around 10 million Filipinos living abroad, we want them to also be able to take advantage of GCash services even as they use international SIMs. As more people put their trust in GCash, we strive to remove more barriers and create a better experience for all.

With an international SIM card, only the first 1,000 people from Japan, Australia, and Italy can use GCash during the beta launch. Filipinos living abroad can sign up for GCash once they've been fully verified. They can help their families back home by sending money for free (GCash-to-GCash), paying bills on time, and buying load credits instantly with just a few taps on the app.

The beta mode will only be available for a limited time, and the full release is expected to happen later this year.

Thanks to its partnership with Alipay+, which is a global payments platform, GCash has also been stepping up its efforts to grow internationally. Aside from GCash Overseas, it can now be used to pay in select stores in Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, and Qatar, as well as in top European countries like the UK, France, Germany, and Italy.

Send Money, Buy Load, and Pay Bills are just some of the financial products and services that GCash users can use. Through GSave, GInsure, and GInvest, users can also try out other innovative financial services that can help them get a head start on their way to reaching their financial goals.
