The realme C55 is the brand's latest entry-level smartphone. It boasts a 6.72-inch FHD+ 90Hz display and a big 5000mAh battery with support for ultra-fast USB-C 33W SUPERVOOC Charging.
In addition, realme C55 is the first Android smartphone to release the "Mini Capsule" experience locally. It is the brand's own version of Dynamic Island, which is capable of showing notifications, such as charging and battery status, on the display's centered punch-hole.
Fortunately, we got our hands on the realme C55 (Sunshower color) ahead of its launch. Before we go to the unboxing and review, let us check out its specs first.

Unboxing
Its yellow-colored box is pretty much neat. There are two logos printed on the front, including a huge "C55" and a small "realme."

Design
realme C55 incorporates a squared-off boxier design and rounded corners for easy grip. Despite having a big 5000mAh battery, it is compact, measuring only 7.9mm thick.
The back panel has a texture like wood, which feels smooth when touched. The good thing is it's fingerprint resistant. Also, in the upper left corner of the rear cover is a rectangular camera bump with two big circular lenses.
The color of the unit we have on hand is Sunshower, which exudes reflections when viewed from different angles.
On the right side of the device, there's a fingerprint reader (that doubles as a power button) and a volume button. At the bottom, there's a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microphone, a USB-C port, and a speaker grill.
On the top left side, there's a triple card slot for two nano-SIM cards and a dedicated microSD card for up to 1TB or 1000GB.
Display
The device's 6.72-inch IPS LCD with a 90Hz screen refresh rate, a 2400 x 1080 px resolution, and a pixel density of 391ppi brings a larger field of view and vivid colors.
realme C55 also got slim bezels on the sides (top, left, and right), while the bottom bezel is way thinner than the previous C series models. Its centered punch-hole houses the 8-megapixel selfie camera. Above it is the earpiece.

The camera department of realme C55 is comprised of dual rear cameras (64MP main + 2MP depth) and an 8MP front camera on its punch-hole. Check out the photos taken with this phone.
Specs sheet
Regarding its specs sheet, the realme C55 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G88 octa-processor paired with a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. The memory configuration that we have is 8GB RAM + 256 ROM, which is the maximum one. The RAM can be virtually expanded by up to 16GB RAM, thanks to the 8GB RAM Expansion feature.
Under the hood runs an Android 13 OS skinned with realme UI 4.0, which has a beautiful interface and snappy animations. With these specs, you can do your daily mobile activities, such as playing games and watching videos.
Moreover, the budget smartphone packs a massive 5000 mAh battery with support for OTG reverse charge.
On top of these, the centered punch hole of realme C55 takes advantage of the "Mini Capsule" feature, which displays important status information.
Currently, it has limited functions, such as the charge notification, which shows the power percentage when charging as well as the remaining available time when fully charged and low battery. There's also the data usage notification, which displays the remaining data for the day when the set data limit reaches 90 percent. Charge notification and data usage notification are turned on by default. These notifications can be toggled on and off on the realme Lab menu.
Final Thoughts
With its modern aesthetic design, high capacity expandable storage, well-optimized high-resolution camera, and Mini Capsule, realme C55 will gonna be an entry-level disruptor.
realme C55 is slated for official launch on April 18, 2023, in the Philippines. The official price of the phone will also be announced at that time as well.
