ROG Ally has two variants of AMD's new Ryzen Z1 chipset series: Ryzen Z1 and Ryzen Z1 Extreme. Z1 has a six-core Zen 4 processor with twelve threads, while the GPU has four RDNA 3 cores. Meanwhile, Z1 Extreme includes an eight-core Zen 4 CPU with sixteen threads and a twelve-core RDNA 3 GPU with a 24-MB cache. If those GPUs are insufficient, you can connect an external GPU with the console supporting up to ROG XG Mobile equipped with RTX 4090 laptop GPU.

This new dedicated gaming handheld console by Asus boasts a white body with 4-directional buttons, two joysticks, Xbox layout keys, and trigger buttons (R1, R2, L1, and L2). ROG Ally's chassis is made of aluminum and weighs 608 grams. The precise device dimensions are 280 x 111 x 21.2mm.

Moreover, ROG Ally features a 7-inch IPS LCD display with Full HD resolution, a 16:9 aspect ratio, a high 120Hz refresh rate, 7ms response time, and 100 percent sRGB color space. The screen has a maximum brightness of 500 nits and is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus.

Regarding memory configurations, ROG Ally has 16GB LPDDR5 dual-channel RAM and options of 256GB/512GB PCIe 4.0 M.2 solid-state drive (SSD) of the 2230 size.

For the battery, the device comes with a 40WHr capacity. Asus promises up to 2 hours of usage in heavy gaming titles run under the 15W performance mode. You may charge the console using the 65W PD charger when you ran out of battery. Asus also added dual fans and a copper heat pipe to assist with cooling.

When it comes to software, it runs Windows 11 Home in addition to a special edition of Asus Armoury Crate. ROG Ally purchases include a three-month Xbox Game Pass subscription and support for the service. Additionally, games from all major game launchers and game streaming services can be played, such as Steam, Epic, GOG, and EA.

Other specs include dual-firing stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support and Hi-Res audio. In terms of ports, the Asus ROG Ally has USB-C 3.2 Gen2, a port for eGPU, a microSD card slot (with support for up to UHS-II cards), and a headphone/mic combo jack. When it comes to wireless connectivity, the gaming console has WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.

ROG Ally Ryzen Z1 is priced at USD 600 (roughly PHP 33.5K), while the more powerful ROG Ally Ryzen Z1 Extreme comes with a starting price of USD 700 (around PHP 39.1K).

The Extreme Edition is now available for pre-order on the ASUS website, and open sales will commence the following month in the United States. On the other hand, the base model will be available in the third quarter of 2023. No word yet on the availability of PH, however.
