Overwatch 2 has launched its first PVP/PVE hybrid event, "Starwatch: Galactic Rescue," which will run until May 22, 2023.
Event Overview
Two teams face off on a four-point Assault match staged on the Infinite Galactrius, a starship transformed from the Horizon Lunar Colony Assault map. The Watchers, led by Bonebreaker Doomfist, will attack against the defending Infinite Empire.
Choose your side: Watcher's rebellion or Infinite Empire's command
You will have the option to join the Watcher's rebellion or the Infinite Empire's command when you queue. If your allegiances lie elsewhere, queue as a Mercenary to swiftly enter the next mission and serve whichever faction assigns you.
The Infinite Empire tolerates no amateurs and is well-prepared to repel any intruders. Within the facility, this team's specialized artillery will be used to assault the Watchers.
But the Watchers also have assistance. Echo's 3CH-0, depicted by Bonebreaker, will be rescued with the assistance of Bonebreaker. Both teams will want to take advantage of the Gravity Implosion Barrels located throughout the facility, as destroying them will release a small but potent black hole that will leave anyone caught in its path vulnerable to attack.
The Fate of the Winner
During the event period, the total number of wins for "Infinite Empire" and "Watcher" will be tallied. The faction that wins more battles will determine the fate of the galaxy in the second comic, which will be released after the conclusion of the in-game event.
Cosmic Challenges & Rewards
With Starwatch: Galactic Rescue, the adventures do not end. Awaiting players are cosmic event challenges that unlock brand-new cosmic cosmetics.
In Starwatch, there are nine cosmic event challenges, each of which grants battle pass experience. The wide variety of rewards is highlighted by the Asteroid Wrecking Ball cosmetic of Epic quality.
Complete Orbit is a challenge that requires players to complete five additional Starwatch event challenges and rewards them with 30,000 Battle Pass Experience. This is sufficient for three complete levels of the battle pass.
All nine challenges can earn a total of 50,000 experience, equivalent to five complete levels of the battle pass. In addition, players can get two voice lines, one name card, a weapon charm, and two sprays.
