PH average broadband speed at 92 Mbps: Ookla April 2023

The Speedtest Global Index report for April 2023 has been revealed by Ookla, indicating that the Philippines' internet rank has moved one spot down in Fixed Broadband and decreased seven positions in Mobile.

The country ranked 42nd globally in the Fixed Broadband category, recording an average median download speed of 92.09 Mbps. The average upload speed was recorded at 91.62 Mbps, and the average latency was 6 ms. Compared to the March 2023 charts, which listed average download and upload speeds of 90.57 Mbps and 89.46 Mbps, respectively, both metrics saw an improvement.

On the other hand, in the Mobile category, the Philippines ranked 86th, listing an average of 25.27 Mbps download speed. The average upload speed and latency were registered at 6.10 Mbps and 23 ms, respectively. This month's record shows a slight drop in both download and upload speeds compared to the previous month's results of 25.63 Mbps and 6.39 Mbps, respectively.

Philippines ranks 86th in mobile and 42nd in fixed broadband, according to the April 2023 data of the Ookla Speedtest Global Index.

For the global median speeds, the average download speed for Fixed Broadband is 80.12 Mbps, while the average for Mobile is 42.07 Mbps.

Qatar ranked first in the mobile internet speed charts worldwide, registering an average speed of 189.98 Mbps. Meanwhile, Singapore placed first in the fixed broadband category, with an average of 242.01 Mbps download speeds.

The Speedtest Global Index for April 2023 includes 138 countries for Mobile and 180 for Fixed Broadband.

For those unfamiliar, the results of the Speedtest Global Index are based on the median download speed in order to more accurately reflect the speeds an internet user can achieve in a given market, as per analytics firm Ookla.
