Blizzard Entertainment, the creators of the popular free-to-play first-person shooter game Overwatch 2, and ESL FACEIT Group (EFG), a leading company in esports and video game entertainment, have announced a multi-year agreement to bring the next era of Overwatch's esports to life via the Overwatch Champions Series (OWCS).
OWCS Overview
Blizzard's first-person shooter game now has a new esports circuit called the OWCS. This global competition is always open and available to players from North America, Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa (EMEA), as well as Asia. This marks an important new chapter in the history of the game.
In addition to making EFG the premier operator of the OWCS, the deal allows Blizzard Entertainment to leverage EFG's full suite of properties to create an open, inclusive, and sustainable competitive community.
Jared Neuss, Executive Producer of Overwatch 2, said:
A thriving esports scene is important to a game as competitive as Overwatch 2, and we're very excited to be entering this next era for the franchise with EFG.
Craig Levine, Co-CEO of ESL FACEIT Group, said:
OWCS introduces a new era of Overwatch esports while honoring the traditions and passion built by Overwatch esports. Together with Blizzard Entertainment, EFG is well-positioned to create a truly global experience on the FACEIT platform and at DreamHack festivals.
Overwatch Champions Series (OWCS) 2024 Calendar
Here's the schedule of the OWCS 2024 tournament, featuring Majors in May and Finals in November.

Future of Overwatch 2 Esports
In EMEA and North America, the Overwatch Champions Series will be organized by EFG. An Asia OWCS circuit will be managed by WDG, a prominent South Korean esports tournament organizer.
Each region will hold its own set of open qualifiers and tournaments. These will culminate with two international in-person events that bring together the players and fans from around the world. For more details on the qualification processes, you may visit PlayOverwatch.com.
Majors and Finals at DreamHack Festivals
In 2024, the OWCS will showcase two significant tournaments that will be hosted at EFG's immersive gaming lifestyle festival, DreamHack.
The first tournament is the DreamHack Dallas Major, which will take place from May 31 to June 2, 2024. This double-elimination tournament will feature eight of the world's top teams.
Later this year, teams from all three regions will meet at DreamHack Stockholm in Sweden from November 22 to 24, 2024, for the World Finals. This will be the first live Tier 1 Overwatch event in Europe in more than five years. There will be a total of eight teams participating in the inaugural OWCS championship event to compete for the championship title.
