itel PH 'A50 Piso Sale' compensation voucher distributed

To take full responsibility for the recent 'A50 Piso Sale' tragedy on TikTok, itel Philippines sent out compensation vouchers to affected customers.

For those unaware, here's a brief recap of the incident. On July 6, 2024, itel Philippines and Vince Domingo-led Unbox Diaries hosted a livestream of the Piso Sale for itel A50 smartphone (original price: PHP 3,199.00) on TikTok.

itel's initial intention was to sell only one unit; however, this was later revised to ten units. Having said that, the company made a mistake by selling 6,500 itel A50 phones for only 1 Peso each.

Consequently, the mobile brand has suffered a substantial loss of approximately PHP 15 million. On the other hand, customers were first advised by itel crew and Unbox Diaries to cancel their orders because of the problem.

itel PH released a statement regarding the 'A50 Piso Sale' issue

On July 11, 2024, itel published an official statement, through its Facebook page, regarding the TikTok livestream incident.

Itel has resolved to accept complete responsibility for the inconvenience caused by the incident. It gave away compensation vouchers to affected consumers, allowing them to reorder the eitel A50 for PHP 1 or buy any other itel devices.

Additionally, it extended its apologies to the customers who were affected and to Unbox Diaries, which received numerous criticisms.

To all our valued customers, We extend our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience caused to all our valued users and to Unbox Diaries during our recent livestream event on July 6, 2024, on their TikTok account. We also acknowledge any shortcomings in our initial response to the incident and are committed to addressing them.

As a brand committed to providing a reliable smart life, itel upholds a 'user-first' philosophy and takes full responsibility for our mistakes. In alignment with this commitment and to address the situation, we will be issuing a Chat Voucher worth 2,898 Pesos to each affected customer (one voucher per buyer) through direct messaging. This voucher can be used for purchases at the itel TikTok Shop official store (itel PH store), allowing you to re-order the A50 with just 1 Peso or to purchase any other itel products (The voucher will be valid until July 31, 2024). We assure you that we are using this incident as an opportunity to refine our processes, thereby enhancing the user shopping experience and ensuring the continued delivery of the dependable quality you expect from itel.

How to Use the Compensation Voucher from itel

Here are the steps you need to follow to redeem your voucher if you were one of the lucky shoppers who were able to get the itel A50 for just PHP 1.

1. itel PH account will send the coupon to each affected customer through the TikTok chatbox.
2. Check your TikTok Shop message to receive the coupon (P2898 off, no minimum spend, valid until July 31, 2024).
3. Tap the 'Use' button in the coupon, and you will be redirected to the itel PH TikTok official store.
4. You can use the voucher to reorder the itel A50 with just 1 Peso or purchase any other itel product.
5. Add the product to your cart and place the order.
