itel Philippines has launched the itel S24, a budget smartphone featuring a 108MP rear camera and 6.6-inch HD+ punch-hole display. See its specs, features, and price below.
itel said it managed to incorporate a 108-megapixel lens (the first for the brand) into the itel S24 smartphone while maintaining its entry-level price. The company added that itel S24 "is set to revolutionize the way people perceive budget-friendly smartphones."
itel S24: Key Features
The itel S24's hardware is not to be disappointed, as it is equipped with a sensor from the same brand that first introduced the 108MP camera to the market. With the Samsung HM6 ISOCELL, this smartphone significantly improves image clarity and excels in night photography by integrating nine pixels into one to allow for more light per pixel, utilizing Nonapixel Plus technology.
Moreover, the itel S24 boasts a 3X in-sensor zoom, which allows users to effortlessly capture pictures with more details and zoom farther. This is, of course, due to the 108MP camera lens.
In addition to its hardware capabilities, itel invested significant resources in its camera software. The phone offers a variety of camera modes for both photography and videography, such as portrait, photo filters, movie master, and dual video.
The 108MP mode is easily accessible from the top of the screen, right next to AI mode. This lets them purposefully select the high-resolution option since 108MP photographs demand more storage. A picture taken in 108MP mode usually consumes 25MB, while a picture taken in AI mode only takes up 5MB.
Further, the front-facing 8MP selfie camera is mounted in the display's punch-hole. It takes good shots in a favorable light. The front camera supports most of the 108MP rear camera's modes, including portrait and dual video.
Meanwhile, the max resolution for videos is 2K at 30 frames per second, which is better than the standard 1080p on most entry-level phones but not quite as good as the 4K quality on most premium phones.
The itel S24's MediaTek Helio G91 chipset guarantees smooth gameplay and is a major selling factor, especially for gamers. For the performance of this mid-range processor, the power and efficiency are balanced for regular tasks and games. itel S24 runs Mobile Legends (MLBB), Honor of Kings (HOK), Roblox, and Call of Duty (CODM) smoothly.
Further, multitasking is smooth with the itel S24 phone since it has a large 256GB internal storage and 16GB Extended RAM (8GB base + 8GB virtual RAM). This memory configuration provides smooth performance and plenty of space for files and apps.
The chipset's gaming features are paired with itel S24's huge 6.6-inch HD+ punch-hole display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Its 1612 x 720 px resolution screen is remarkably sharp and detailed for its specs, making media consumption comparable to higher-priced smartphones.
Moreover, itel S24 promises audio pleasure. The dual DTS speaker provides multi-dimensional audio for a more immersive and lifelike experience. This audio quality is akin to Dolby Atmos on expensive smartphones.
Nowadays, big batteries and fast charging are standard. The days of charging taking a day and consumption lasting a few hours are over. itel S24 has a 5000mAh battery and 18W Type-C Quick Charge. It lasts a day on average for social media and games, which is good for casual users who charge their smartphones every night. From 0 percent battery, the 18W fast charging can fully charge the phone in two hours.
On the other hand, itel S24 comes in starry black and dawn white for the Philippine market. The dawn white variant has itel's color-changing technology. If sunlight hits the rear of the phone, the white color will turn pink, which is a gimmick but indicates that itel puts effort into its designs.
The itel S24's design feels expensive despite its pricing. It doesn't feel like a sub-10K phone. At 192 grams, it's weighty, yet its 8.3mm thickness and balanced ergonomics make the device comfortable to hold. Despite being built of high-end plastic, it feels like the latest iPhones and Samsung flagships.
Other features of itel S24 include Android 13-based itel OS 13, Atom Storage Tech, Bypass Charging, GPT AI Assistant, and Dynamic Bar.
