Globe debuts Private 5G Network for B2B connectivity

Globe Telecom has reported successfully deploying the first fully functional Private 5G Network in the Philippines. According to the telco, it was "designed to address major operational pain points and challenges in different industries."

A dedicated wireless network is installed at a Globe facility in Makati City. It demonstrates how 5G technology can enable reliable and efficient advanced digital solutions that support important functions.

Globe's Private 5G Network provides businesses with a dedicated bandwidth instead of using a shared public network. This means companies have more control and better security over their network.

Further, it allows organizations, facilities, or operations to customize their connectivity for high performance, low latency, and security.

Globe noted that the service will soon be available to its Business-to-Business (B2B) clients in sectors like manufacturing, ports, and mining. This will create new opportunities in various industries.

Gerhard Tan, Globe's senior director and head of technology strategy and innovations, said:
As businesses and organizations continue to adapt to the rapidly changing technological landscape, Globe's private 5G network solution will be a key enabler in overcoming connectivity challenges, enabling new applications for different use cases, and driving the next wave of digital transformation.

Globe said it is working closely with top technology providers, systems integrators, and global companies to keep its private 5G solutions innovative.

Globe's private 5G network pilot was conducted in partnership with Nokia Shanghai Bell. The initial run includes a Video Surveillance and Analytics Solution for facial recognition, people counting, vehicle plate tracking, and gender detection.

These features improve operational safety, personnel management, and asset tracking, making firms more efficient and secure.
