Path of Exile 2: The Third Edict adds new monsters, areas

The Third Edict, Path of Exile 2's new content expansion, adds Act 4 and the Interlude, replacing Cruel difficulty, Grinding Gear Games revealed. Further, character balancing, support gems, and other systems are overhauled.

Explore Ngamakanui, the Karui archipelago, to find the Weapon to defeat the Beast. Here are the highlights of the PoE2 0.3.0 patch update.
  • Go to Ngamakanui to look for pieces of the Third Edict that can help conquer the Beast.
  • Act 4 contains more than 100 new monster types, 12 new bosses, and 16 new areas.
  • New quality of life features, including the Asynchronous Trade, Sprint, Kingsmarch, crafting updates, a new Support Gem System, and more.
  • Free Weekend takes place from August 29 to September 1, 2025 (PDT).

PoE2 - Act 4 Overview

The Ngamakanui archipelago has eight terrifying islands. Start from Kingsmarch to the peaceful beaches of Whakapanu Island, where the waves murmur with the drowned, and the burning hellscape of the Isle of Kin, where the soil bleeds fire, danger, and new bosses.

Act Four of PoE2 is non-linear, so players can visit islands in any sequence.

Three Mini Acts: The Interludes

Three temporary Interlude acts replace Cruel Difficulty to enhance the post-campaign experience without repeating it. The 19 new areas and nine new bosses in the side stories will help players transition from the campaign to the conclusion.

  • Interlude I: Go back to Ogham to help Renly rebuild the village. Remove the corruption affecting the denizens.
  • Interlude II: Cross the sands of Vastiri to help Asala keep a sacred promise. Look for the people who are causing problems with the Gifting.
  • Interlude III: Climb the mountain to find the lost Vaal descendants. Explore the ice caves to discover the secrets hidden inside.

As a reminder, the action role-playing game Path of Exile 2 is a free-to-play (F2P) title. While it offers paid early access on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games), it will be free for everyone once it fully launches.
