GunZ: The Duel developer MasangGames officially kicked off the third-person shooter game's first closed beta test. Limited to a small number of participants, the 1st CBT runs from September 26 to 29, 2025.
CBT keys were distributed through the following channels:
- Selected applicants from the official CBT registration page (https://ift.tt/sDlMCoX)
- Selected newsletter subscribers
- Limited drops from events linked to the game's Discord channel (https://ift.tt/trLemqP)
- Creator allocations, plus a small number of additional keys
Once chosen participants redeemed their beta key on Steam, they could access the game anytime during the test period.
The GunZ team posted:
This CBT marks the very first step in the new journey of GunZ. It is designed to test the most essential systems before introducing more features and content. While the available content will be limited, it will give you an important glimpse into the overall direction.
The developers also noted:
This CBT will be limited to a small number of participants, but we are already preparing a larger-scale playtest for the next phase. The scope of testing will continue to expand, so we ask for your patience just a little longer.
GunZ 1st CBT Overview
Test Period
- GMT: September 26, 2025 at 2:00 AM – September 29, 2025 at 2:00 AM
- Philippine Time: September 26, 2025 at 10:00 AM – September 29, 2025 at 10:00 AM
Weapon and Armor System Adjustments:
- Armor no longer has differences in weight or defense.
- Weapons now share unified stats by level, and each weapon type is divided into 2-3 variants.
- For example, shotguns include the powerful but low-capacity "Avenger" and the standard "Breaker" type.
- When switching weapons, you only need to swap your ranged weapon and rings. Total equipment weight is no longer calculated separately.
- Rings provide small bonuses to Weight, HP, and AP, and can be purchased with bounty.
- If you equip two heavy weapons, you must use a Weight Ring. In this case, HP/AP rings cannot be used.
Note: Weapon delay, damage, accuracy, and other weapon stats will continue to be adjusted for balance.

- New lobby: Hideout
- PvP mode
- 4 maps
- Various costumes
Note: Anti-lead and combat system improvements are currently in the polishing stage.
The GunZ Team noted:
We also plan to allow players to freely toggle features that may come down to personal preference in future updates. In addition, outdated systems will gradually be reworked to meet modern UX standards.
