Where Winds Meet: Post-Launch Seasonal Roadmap

Where Winds Meet: Post-Launch Seasonal Roadmap

The development team of Where Winds Meet, NetEase Games' upcoming Wuxia open-world action RPG, recently revealed the game's weapon and combat design details, deeply rooted in Wuxia philosophy. At Tokyo Game Show 2025, they revealed a grand post-launch seasonal roadmap. Free-to-play Where Winds Meet will launch globally on PC and PlayStation 5 on November 14.

Wuxia Combat: Overview of the Game's Design

Where Winds Meet aims to capture the essence of Wuxia, a genre often confused with Kung Fu.

Wuxia combines martial arts, eastern philosophy, and artistic refinement, while conventional Kung Fu emphasises realistic, disciplined mastery.

The game's sophisticated fighting system portrays character, philosophy, and art through weapons. Spears, swords, rope darts, dual blades, and more are carefully constructed with unique weight, speed, and feel in the game. The development team chooses the umbrella as an emblem of Wuxia's spirit—an impractical weapon that becomes poetry in lethal action.

Chris Lyu, Where Winds Meet lead designer, stated:
The umbrella represents the core of Wuxia—reality and fantasy, beauty and danger in one. It can seamlessly switch from a deadly weapon [to] a reliable shield, can strike on its own with weight and impact, or become a partner in combat, or even gracefully let you float on the battlefield to attack from above.

The development team worked with multi-award-winning Hong Kong action director Wei Tung (known for Bruce Lee's Fist of Fury) to preserve the impact, rhythm, and spatial intelligence of authentic combat using real martial artists and full-body motion capture. Every move, whether solo or multi-actor, was precisely captured to reproduce Wuxia combat in the game.

Post-Launch Seasonal Roadmap

The development team revealed Where Winds Meet's roadmap at Tokyo Game Show 2025. After its November 14 launch, the game will get three-month seasonal updates as a living Wuxia world.

The launch season will have two large regions, Kaifeng and Qinghe, each with its own story arc, allowing all players to explore the game's storyline and their character's past.

Meanwhile, seasonal updates will vary in focus. New regions and characters may advance the main story, while others may add new gameplay and time-limited in-game activities or improve character progression and social features.

Chris Lyu added:
For us, Where Winds Meet is more than a game - it's an invitation to experience Wuxia as we've always imagined it. We will continuously optimize and adjust the gaming experience based on feedback from the player community. It's our way of building this world with our players, not just for them.

Prior to its global release on PC and PlayStation 5 platforms on November 14, 2025, I suggest you wishlist Where Winds Meet on Steam, Epic Games Store, and PlayStation Store. PS5 pre-order bundles with cosmetic items and custom content are also available. – PinoyTechSaga
