Mexico's LYON has defeated 11 elite opponents in the grand finals of Free Fire at the 2026 Esports World Cup (Free Fire at EWC26) in Paris to claim the championship title.
As champions, the Latin American representatives also took home the USD 300,000 grand prize from the USD 1M prize pool. Moreover, the Mexican team secured the first direct qualification slot for the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) Global Finals 2026 in Bangkok this November.
The win is a major achievement for the team. Rainbow7, then Movistar R7, was one of Latin America's top Free Fire teams before becoming LYON. After finishing 11th at Free Fire at EWC 2025, the squad won the FFWS Latin America 2026 EWC Qualifier in June and kept it going in Paris to capture its maiden trophy.
The Free Fire-EWC 2026 roster of LYON was bannered by GAMEZKING, DELLA, JOKER, JOACOZD, and HAAXSZ. The team was consistent throughout the tournament and performed well in the Match Point Grand Finals.
The tournament's Overall MVP award was given to BenjamÃn "Gamezking" Pérez. This is his first worldwide MVP honor, after dominating the eliminations leaderboard in the FFWS Latin America 2026 EWC Qualifier for numerous weeks.
Free Fire EWC 2026 Recap
24 teams from Southeast Asia, Latin America, Brazil, South Asia, the Middle East and Africa, and the US regions competed in Paris for four days of elite play. Both established powerhouses and new contenders excelled.
After a strong run from the Survival Stage, LYON secured 155 points in the grand finals to win the tournament. Thailand's AG.AL finished second with 122 points, and Brazil's LOUD placed third with 111 points.
The Grand Finals ended in an exciting Match Point conclusion, with the eventual winners reaching the Champion Rush stage after Game 5 and winning the Booyah in Game 7 to raise the trophy in front of audiences in Paris and around the world.
LYON set a global Free Fire esports tournament record with 33 eliminations in a game in the Finals, breaking the previous record of 28.

After Free Fire at EWC26, the race is on for FFWS Global Finals 2026 in Bangkok this November. LYON is the first to qualify. Teams from qualifying leagues will compete for the remaining spots to join them.
The FFWS Global Finals 2026 will include 24 qualifying teams competing for the Free Fire World Champion from November 6–28.
Regional qualifying campaigns are ongoing. Players from Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand will start FFWS Southeast Asia 2026 Fall in August and finish in Surabaya, Indonesia. FFWS USA 2026 Fall registration opens on July 31 via the in-game Open Qualifier, with the champion qualifying for the Global Finals.
