Dunoo, voice behind 'Normalin, normalin', dies of COVID-19
Aldrin Paulo Pangan, known in the Dota 2 scene as “Dunoo” or “Kuya D,” dies August 27, 2021 due to complications brought by COVID-19. Dunoo was the other half of the Dota 2 voice line “Lakad matatag, normalin normalin (Walk steadily and deliver a normal hit).”
The iconic “Lakad matatag, normalin normalin” line was first heard when Dunoo and his duo Marlon “Lon” Marcelo commentated on the match between Fnatic and Team Secret in ESL One Katowice in February 2018.
Due to the popularity of this line, it was added to the chat wheel sounds. Moreover, it was the most-used chat wheel sound by European team OG when it won The International 2018.
PH Team Sibol also rallied the iconic chat wheel sound in its first Southeast Asian Games campaign in 2019, where it bagged the gold medal.
Furthermore, Pangan, who began his career with Mineski, was instrumental in LuponWxC’s rise to prominence in the Philippine Esports scene.
Numerous esports figures have already paid their respects to the late Dota 2 shoutcaster.
Dunoo hinted at testing positive for COVID-19 in a cryptic Facebook post (“Day 1 ….”) on his official fan page on August 9.
He later followed up with a post titled “COVID day 5” on August 12.
Dunoo was seen in his most recent Facebook live video titled “Good Night!” on August 17 with his face strapped with an oxygen mask, hardly able to speak.
