Arena of Valor 2022 esports aims global expansion
Mobile MOBA game Arena of Valor (AoV) aims to expand its esports scene globally in 2022.
As part of the Arena of Valor International Championship (AIC) 2021 grand finals, the AoV 2022 Esports Update was revealed to fans and players worldwide on December 19, 2021.
Garena global esports manager Justin Lye discussed plans to expand AoV’s esports efforts, stating that the team’s decision to increase the level of competition for players in 2022 was motivated by “the growing passion of the players” and also “the strong support from fans over the past year.” Lye hopes that this will inspire professional teams to “push themselves to greater heights” in the coming year.
Arena of Valor tournaments prize pools (2021-2022)
In 2022, global tournaments such as Arena of Valor International Championship (AIC) 2022 and Arena of Valor World Cup (AWC) 2022 will see their prize pools increased to USD 2,000,000 and USD 10,000,000, respectively – a record-breaking amount in the history of AoV. Previously, AWC 2021 featured a USD 500K prize pool, while USD 1M for AIC 2021.
The prize pools for AoV pro leagues will also increase in 2022, as will the number of participating teams. Further, a new points system will be implemented in several regions to assist local squads in charting their course to an AWC berth in 2022.
AoV esports in 2022 will be divided into five stages. These five stages include open-for-all amateur tournaments, regional cups, pro leagues, and the biggest international competitions – AIC and AWC. Regions comprising North America, South America, Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia are now included.
AoV pro leagues will kick off their first season of 2022 from January until May, starting with the RoV Pro League (RPL) Thailand, followed by Arena of Glory (AOG) Vietnam and Garena Challenger Series (GCS) Taiwan. Finally, the AoV Star League (ASL) Indonesia will commence in February.
Winners will then proceed to take their spot at AIC 2022. The second season will continue from July to September, where squads will resume their battle to clinch a seed at the AWC 2022.
On the other hand, Arena of Valor is one of the eight esports titles selected as a medal event for the 31st SEA Games, which will take place in Hanoi, Vietnam, in May 2022.
