Blizzard has announced that Diablo Immortal is set to release on Android, iOS, and PC platforms on June 2, 2022, in most regions across the world, with the remaining areas in Asia-Pacific gaining access a few weeks later. The free-to-play MMORPG, designed primarily for mobile devices, was initially revealed in 2018. Now coming with mobile and PC versions, Diablo Immortal will also feature cross-play between the two platforms.
According to the developers, Diablo Immortal supports cross-play and cross-progression, allowing players on mobile and PC to play together regardless of platform while seamlessly transitioning between mobile and PC gameplay. Moreover, the new PC port will support controllers, mouse and keyboard, as well as a new WASD control scheme.
Blizzard Entertainment president Mike Ybarra shared that “to deliver an experience worthy of the franchise,” they “did a lot of testing” and “incorporated a lot of feedback.”
Players will select one of six iconic Diablo classes–Barbarian, Crusader, Demon Hunter, Monk, Necromancer, or Wizard–and embark on an adventure across eight distinct zones and the mighty city of Westmarch. They will team up with new and returning Diablo characters, including the franchise’s patriarch Deckard Cain, on an expansive quest to track down the shattered pieces of the corrupted Worldstone before the forces of the Burning Hells gather them for their own sinister purposes in an epic all-new story set between the events of Diablo II and Diablo III.
Diablo Immortal introduces an entirely new MMOARPG (massively multiplayer online action-RPG) social experience to the franchise. Players will share a vast environment with other players as they explore Sanctuary, establish Warbands of up to eight people to take on group challenges such as the fierce Helliquary raid bosses, and join Clans of up to 150 companions to earn challenging Clan Achievements.
Moreover, the game has a sophisticated PvP system centered on factions. The Cycle of Strife allows players to band together to battle in an ongoing war in which the server’s top player earns the Eternal Crown and becomes the Immortals’ leader. This forces them to constantly defend their throne across a variety of settings, including devastating 1v30 showdowns.
Diablo Immortal will be a free-to-play title with optional in-game purchases, guaranteeing that the core game experience remains completely free. Diablo Immortal, developed by Blizzard Entertainment and NetEase, will be available for iOS, Android, and Windows PC via Battle.net upon launch.
Over 30 million gamers have already pre-registered across all platforms in order to receive access to the game as soon as it releases, preparing themselves for the next battles. When the game launches, all players will receive the Horadrim Cosmetic Set to commemorate this significant milestone.
In the years to come, new material will be published periodically for free to users, including new zones, dungeons, and character classes.
