Ookla has revealed its Speedtest Global Index for September 2022, indicating that the Philippines' internet rank has moved three spots down in Mobile and decreased one position in Fixed Broadband.
The country ranked 85th globally in the Mobile category, recording a median download speed of 22.54 Mbps. The mobile upload speed was listed at 5.65 Mbps, and the average latency was 23 ms. This record shows a very slight increase in download speed compared to the 22.35 Mbps of the August charts.
Moreover, in the Fixed Broadband category, the Philippines placed 46th, posting an average of 78.69 Mbps download speeds. The average upload speed and latency were recorded at 74.91 Mbps and 6 ms, respectively. Compared to the previous month's results, which logged an average download of 78.33 Mbps, the download speed slightly increased.
In terms of global median speeds, the average download speed for mobile is 33.17 Mbps, while fixed broadband is 71.39 Mbps.
Norway earned the top spot in the mobile internet speed charts worldwide, recording an average speed of 126.94 Mbps. Meanwhile, Chile placed first in the fixed broadband category, with an average of 217.43 Mbps download speeds.
The Speedtest Global Index for September 2022 includes 138 countries for Mobile and 181 for Fixed Broadband.
Ookla explained that Speedtest Global Index results are based on the median download speed to more accurately reflect the internet speeds a user is likely to achieve in a given market.
