Converge, Globe, PLDT, Sky top Netflix ISP Index (Sept 2022)

Netflix has released its report for the September 2022 ISP Speed Index for the Philippines, ranking selected internet service providers (ISPs) in the country based on their performance.

As per the latest report, Converge ICT Solution, Globe, PLDT, and Sky Cable tied for the top spot, registering average speeds of 3.4 Mbps. Compared to the August 2022 rankings, there are no changes in positions.

They were followed by Royal Cable, the lone second-placer, recording an average speed of 2.8 Mbps.

Furthermore, the report cited that PLDT and Globe Telecom have fiber and DSL (digital subscriber line) types of networks. Meanwhile, Royal Cable, Converge ICT, and Sky Cable have two types of internet: fiber and cable.

For the uninitiated, Netflix ISP Speed Index measures which internet service providers give the optimal watching experience during peak viewing hours. The ranking chart is based on data collected from subscribers using the online video streaming service.

The speed index is vital for Netflix streaming since its video content loads seamlessly on networks with low latency, packet loss, and jitter. Otherwise, subscribers may encounter difficulties such as pixelization and buffering while watching videos.

The 3.4 Mbps speed of Converge, Globe, Sky, and PLDT was comparable to other countries that experience excellent Netflix speeds.

Among the countries that reached the same speed were Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Chile, Denmark, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Taiwan, and Trinidad & Tobago.
