PH fixed broadband speed at 90Mbps —Ookla Feb 2023 data

Ookla has revealed its Speedtest Global Index report for February 2023, indicating that the Philippines' internet rank has moved one spot up in Fixed Broadband and increased two positions in Mobile.

The country ranked 40th globally in the Fixed Broadband category, recording an average median download speed of 90.03 Mbps. The average upload speed was registered at 87.63 Mbps, and the average latency was 6 ms. Compared to the January 2023 charts, which listed average download and upload speeds of 88.13 Mbps and 86.14 Mbps, respectively, both metrics saw a boost.

On the other hand, in the Mobile category, the Philippines ranked 80th, listing an average of 24.58 Mbps median download speed. The average upload speed and latency were recorded at 6.24 Mbps and 23 ms, respectively. This month's record shows a slight drop in download speed and a small gain in upload speed compared to the previous month's results of 24.59 Mbps and 6.04 Mbps, respectively.

Philippines ranks 80th in mobile and 40th in fixed broadband, according to the February 2023 data of the Ookla Speedtest Global Index.

Regarding global median speeds for February 2023, the average download speed for mobile is 39.77 Mbps, while for fixed broadband is 78.62 Mbps.

United Arab Emirates (UAE) placed first in the mobile internet speed charts worldwide, registering an average speed of 179.61 Mbps. Meanwhile, Singapore ranked first in the fixed broadband category, with an average of 237.15 Mbps download speeds.

The Speedtest Global Index for February 2023 includes 137 countries for Mobile and 180 for Fixed Broadband.

For the uninitiated, Speedtest Global Index results are based on the median download speed in order to more accurately reflect the internet speeds a user can achieve in a given market, as per analytics firm Ookla.
