E-Palarong Pambansa games for 2023 event unveiled

E-Palarong Pambansa has unveiled the final list of PC and mobile games to be featured in its inaugural esports tournament.

In a Facebook post, E-Palarong Pambansa, a National Youth Commission-backed Esports tournament circuit, listed the esports titles they selected for their event in 2023:

Mobile Games
  • League of Legends: Wild Rift
  • Call of Duty Mobile
  • Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

PC Games:
  • League of Legends
  • Valorant

For the uninitiated, here's a brief overview of the gameplay of the aforementioned games:
  • Wild Rift is a fast-paced mobile multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game where players team up to destroy enemy turrets and, ultimately, the opponent's base while leveling up their characters and unlocking new abilities.
  • The gameplay of Call of Duty Mobile involves fast-paced and intense first-person shooter action with a variety of multiplayer modes and customizable loadouts.
  • Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) is a MOBA game where players team up to fight against the opposing team's base while defending their own.
  • Valorant is a team-based first-person hero shooter game where players use unique abilities and weapons to plant or defuse a bomb or eliminate the enemy team.
  • League of Legends (LoL) is a MOBA game where players control a champion with unique abilities and battle against a team of opponents to destroy their base.

According to E-Palarong Pambansa, they carefully chose the games for this year's event based on these criteria: popularity, accessibility, player base, and platform compatibility.

The league is still open to exploring and incorporating more esports titles in future tournaments.

The E-Palarong Pambansa is set to kick off in May 2023 with the qualifier stage, followed by the group stage in June.

Event Roadmap 2023

The three stages for E-Palarong Pambansa Event Roadmap are as follows:

Qualifier Stage

There will be four single elimination brackets; each held once every week. Teams will be divided into four regional legs: North Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The team's position in the bracket will equate to a point. Matches will be played on weekdays simultaneously in all brackets of all regional legs. The schedule will be for the whole month of May, every Monday to Friday, with each day having a different game assigned.

Group Stage

There will be a single round-robin, and the top two teams from each group will proceed to the next round. Participants of the national Esports shoutcaster search will be given the opportunity to cast/analyze these games, picked at random.

Playoffs

There will be a single-elimination tournament among the eight remaining teams contending for the Championship. Rank 1 teams from each week will draw lots to choose the day they will play, and based on that order from Day 1-4, they will choose the Rank 2 team they want to face in the first round of the playoffs. Shoutcasting/analysis of the game they want to apply will be allowed, and the top 8 Esports shoutcasters from the search will be given the opportunity to cast/analyze these remaining games.
