Globe SIM registration at 85%, telco eyes 100% by deadline

Globe has announced major progress in its SIM registration efforts. The telco has successfully registered around 85% of its active users.

The company also added that it "is confident that it can cover the rest of its revenue-generating customer base well within the 90-day extension period."

Since the registration deadline was extended to July 25, there have been fewer people registering for SIM cards. This is true for all market players. Globe said it "remains unfazed" despite this pressing situation.

Darius Delgado, Head of Globe Consumer Mobile Business, said:
We intend to have 100% of our revenue-generating base fully registered within the 90-day extension. We are confident that we can achieve this with the initiatives that we are taking.

The company has taken steps to make registration as easy and available as possible. For example, fully verified Globe and TM users can now register their SIM cards with just a few clicks using GCash. This is in addition to the 24/7 availability of the GlobeOne app and website [ https://ift.tt/0LNdGjZ].

Globe is still running its SIM-assisted registration booths, and it hopes to do more of this, especially in rural areas where registration has been slow. Customers can also go to any of the company's 144 Stores or 25 EasyHubs across the country if they need help registering their SIMs.

Globe wants to make sure that its customers follow the SIM Registration Act, so it is working with local government units, grocery stores, shops, and malls to set up registration booths where people can get help. Since January, the telco has also been a regular participant in the NTC's programs to help people register for SIM cards.

Globe keeps appealing to the government to let people use other forms of ID to register SIM cards since many Filipinos still don't have government IDs.

Delgado said:
We applaud the government for extending the SIM registration deadline, as this gives millions of our unregistered customers more time to comply with the law. But we continue to ask for conditional registration that will allow us to accept other forms of identification such as school IDs and company IDs. This will help our customers who do not yet have a government ID to register across our channels.

SIM users who haven't registered their SIMs yet have until July 25, 2023, to do so. Globe wants its customers to use the extra time quickly and not wait until the last minute to register so that their SIM cards don't get deactivated.
