Thanks to the Alipay+ partnership, GCash can now be used as a payment method in select European countries: the UK, France, Germany, and Italy.
That said, users of the Philippine mobile wallet app can now opt for a hassle-free, cashless payment option on their next Euro trip.
According to GCash, this cross-border payment service is part of their strengthened collaboration and partnership with Alipay+. This offers a seamless and secure payment experience and real-time foreign exchange (forex) with no service fee, allowing customers to have a hassle-free and rewarding travel experience abroad.
The following are some of the key merchants and stores that accept GCash via the Alipay+ payment method:
- United Kingdom: Harrods, Liberty London, Harvey Nichols
- France: Printemps
- Germany: Müller, dm-drogerie markt
- Italy: itTaxi, IVS Group (the leader in the vending machines market in Italy)
Be sure to search for the Alipay+ logo at checkout when making purchases from these locations. Launch the GCash application and tap the QR or PayQR icon at the bottom of the screen. Scan the merchant's QR code, or select "Pay Abroad with Alipay+" to have your QR code scanned by the merchant. Then, verify the amount and select Pay to view the receipt.
Therefore, there is no need to carry cash or exchange currency when shopping abroad. Choose the GCash Scan-to-Pay option for your purchases for a seamless travel experience – all with a few touches on the GCash app on your phone.

GCash president and CEO Martha Sazon said:
In line with our fervent commitment to make our customers' everyday lives better and more convenient, we want to make sure that they can maximize their GCash account not only locally but wherever they are across the world. We look forward to expanding to other markets abroad soon and to partner with even more merchants in 2023.
Together with Alipay+, GCash is continually expanding its international payment interfaces. In addition to European countries, the Philippine e-wallet can be used in Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and Qatar at a limited number of retailers.
