Globe 5G roaming service now in 67 countries, territories

Globe Telecom said it continues to expand its 5G coverage worldwide, with its 5G roaming service now available in 67 countries and territories.

Globe's 5G roaming footprint now includes the following countries (with the respective telcos): Austria (T-Mobile), Macau (CTM), Malaysia (Digi), US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico (AT&T), Vatican City (Windtre), Northern Ireland, Russia (Megafon), Scotland and Wales (EE), and Northern Marianas (Docomo Pacific).

Moreover, Globe has partnered with more international telecommunications companies, including SFR in France, Hi3G in Denmark, Windtre in Italy, T-Mobile in the Netherlands, Salt in Switzerland, Slovak Telekom in Slovakia, and MEO in Portugal.

5G technology presently offers the fastest mobile connectivity and download speeds, with speeds faster than 4G. Globe debuted 5G technology locally, becoming the first operator in Southeast Asia to deploy 5G AirFiber for residential use commercially in 2019.

Globe's 5G roaming services are also available to travelers and foreign subscribers from Sri Lanka, Romania, Egypt, the Isle of Man, and Mexico when they are in the Philippines.

Coco Domingo, Vice President, Postpaid and International Business at Globe, said:
With a 5G footprint spanning 67 countries and territories, we are thrilled to offer customers fast and reliable connectivity while they travel the world. We also paired their 5G experience with Globe data roaming promos that are now affordable and accessible for our customers via the GlobeOne app. Now, you can skip the hassle of switching to a local SIM or bringing an extra device to stay connected. As customers regain confidence to explore once more, Globe will be there to deliver cutting-edge technology and innovative solutions to make their lives better– wherever they are in the world.

GlobeOne App allows postpaid subscribers to pre-register for their preferred data roaming promos the day before their trip. They can choose Roam Surf Longer Stay, which provides data roaming with longer validity varying from three to thirty days for as low as PHP 200 per day. Or, Globe Postpaid roamers can instantly connect to an all-day data roaming service, Roam Surf 399, by activating mobile data and data roaming. Roam Surf 399 provides a daily fixed rate that is automatically renewed every 24 hours without the need to register for a promo.

Meanwhile, Globe Prepaid subscribers just need to turn on their phones to connect to roaming partners abroad and switch to 2G/3G mode if they do not have an active data promo upon arrival. Then, they can register for a variety of Roam Surf promos, such as the Roam Surf Longer Stay offers, via GlobeOne or GCash.

Over the past two years, Globe has invested heavily in capital expenditures to establish a substantial infrastructure backbone. It now shifts to capital optimization and efficiency.
