E-Palarong Pambansa ends operations, now backs PNEL

E-Palarong Pambansa ends operations, now backs Philippine National Esports League (PNEL)

E-Palarong Pambansa organizers announced that they had ended their operations. They now support the Philippine National Esports League (PNEL) instead.

"We, the E-Palarong Pambansa team, together with various esports organizations in the country, would like to officially endorse the PNEL-The Final Cup Inc. or Philippine National Esports League (PNEL) to continue organizing and implementing the esports initiative and agenda of the E-Palarong Pambansa," the organization announced.

"We are the people behind the conception, inception, and initial implementation of E-Palarong Pambansa - a grassroot nationwide esports tournament for the youth, together with the National Youth Organization. Therefore, due to various challenges and issues, including the withdrawal of support from the National Youth Commission, E-Palarong Pambansa is now defunct," the announcement read.

"We are one with [Philippine National Esports League and its advocacies. We are for the advancement of esports as a distinct discipline of sports and esports as a source of holistic entertainment," added E-Palarong Pambansa.

E-Palarong Pambansa Advisory

Because of how things turned out, the E-Palarong Pambansa (EPP) organizing team, with the help of the eSports Academy of Asia Pacific, now backs the Philippine National Esports League. Under the new name "The-Bagong Larong Pambansa," they will keep doing what the EPP team started.

For those unaware, the Philippine National Esports League is a nationwide LGU-based amateur esports organization led by former actor and incumbent congressman Dan Fernandez of Santa Rosa, Laguna's Lone District.

PNEL is committed to creating "new avenues for esports competition, recreation, social interactions, and community development," according to its website [https://pnel.net].

To recall, E-Palarong Pambansa was the esports equivalent of the Philippines' renowned student-athlete sporting event, the Palarong Pambansa. This was an annual multi-sport competition comprising student-athletes from different regions of the Philippines. The games included in its inaugural tournament were League of Legends: Wild Rift, Call of Duty Mobile, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, League of Legends, and Valorant.
