Vanguard anti-cheat launches in LoL PH server in Patch 14.5

Vanguard anti-cheat launches in LoL PH server in Patch 14.5 (March 6, 2024)

Riot Games announced that it will launch its anti-cheat software Vanguard in the League of Legends (LoL) Philippines server in Patch 14.5. According to the LoL Patch Schedule page, Patch 14.5 is expected to be released on March 6, 2024.

Notably, LoL PH will be the first region to be implemented with Riot's Vanguard anti-cheat software.

Vanguard for League of Legends was originally scheduled for a global release, but Riot Games disclosed in the most recent LoL Patch 14.4 update (released February 22, 2024) that they changed the rollout plan.

Here's the statement by Riot Games as seen on LoL Patch 14.4 notes:
We've been communicating in the past few patch notes that Vanguard was coming, but after some time on the PBE testing the diagnostics check, we've elected to change the rollout plan. Instead of a Global rollout, we're going to be releasing in a single region first with patch 14.5. This allows us time on live servers to evaluate how Vanguard is functioning and being experienced before making adjustments if required. For more information on Vanguard or help making sure you're ready for Vanguard please check out our support article so that you can continue to play League once Vanguard is required.

Here's the separate statement by Riot Games as seen on TFT Patch 14.4 notes, wherein the Philippines is indicated:
While we've been discussing Vanguard (Riot's anti-cheat software already being utilized on Valorant) arriving globally, after some time testing the diagnostics check on PBE we've elected to change the rollout plan. Instead of a Global rollout, we're going to be releasing in a single region first, the [Philippines], with patch 14.5. This allows us time on live servers to evaluate how Vanguard is functioning and being experienced before making adjustments if required.

In Patch 14.4, League of Legends also dropped its support for older operating systems, including Windows 7, 8, and 8.1, which makes it eligible for the incorporation of Riot Vanguard:
As of this patch, our minimum system requirements have been updated and we will no longer be supporting Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 for all League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics games. To maintain the stability and performance of our games, we sometimes need to deprecate support for legacy operating systems that aren't widely used by our players. If you're still playing on these versions of Windows, please consider updating [to Windows 10 or 11] to continue playing.

Vanguard is anti-cheat and custom game security software developed by Riot Games to ensure the integrity and fairness of competitive gaming in Riot Games titles. This anti-cheat software was introduced first to the hero shooter game Valorant to prevent various hacks like aimbot and wallhack. With the implementation of Vanguard on LoL, it is expected to prevent players taking advantage of the game using third-party apps.

Vanguard, an on-boot application, consists of a client that runs while League of Legends is active and a kernel mode driver. Therefore, League of Legends will not run without Vanguard, so you must re-enable it by restarting your computer to resume the game.

However, Vanguard was found to cause several issues, including blocking access to genuine software. Furthermore, during the early days of Vanguard, programs that were linked with important background processes were found to be in conflict with the anti-cheat software.

Riot Games, via its support page, noted that if Vanguard is interfering with any of your computer's other processes, you'll be able to turn it off by right-clicking the Vanguard icon in the System Tray (bottom-right corner of your Windows screen) and selecting the "Exit Vanguard" option.
