Game publisher 2K is poised for a massive 2025, with the upcoming launch of Borderlands 4, Civilization VII, and Mafia: The Old Country.

2K unveiled this flurry of announcements during the Gamescom 2024 Opening Night Live in Cologne, Germany. It confirmed that three of its biggest franchises will launch new iterations next year, marking 2025 as one of the company's most significant slates.

Catharina Lavers Mallet, 2K core games senior vice president and general manager, said:
We're thrilled to be able to share with our fans that 2025 will mark a massive year for 2K when we'll deliver new iterations of three of our most beloved game franchises - Sid Meier's Civilization, Borderlands, and Mafia - in addition to our annual sports titles. Each game represents both an exciting evolution for franchise fans and a perfect entry point for new players.

David Ismailer, 2K president, said:
With some of the best development talent in the industry across Firaxis Games, Gearbox, and Hangar 13, these iconic franchises have built huge global communities of players. Those millions of fans have a lot to look forward to next year. We can't wait to deliver for them.

Borderlands 4

The sequel of the renowned looter-shooter franchise will be released in 2025 (during Take-Two's Fiscal Year 2026) on the PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. It is available on the wishlist now.

2K and Gearbox Software said in a statement:
Borderlands 4 is the fourth mainline title and seventh overall entry in the franchise. Players will once again assume the role of a legendary Vault Hunter as they search for secret alien treasure while blasting everything in sight.

Sid Meier's Civilization VII (CIV VII)

The esteemed 4X strategy game franchise, representing a revolutionary new chapter, will launch on February 11, 2025. It will be available on PlayStation 5 (PS5), PlayStation 4 (PS4), Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and Mac and Linux via Steam. It will feature support for cross-play and cross-progression and is now available for pre-order. For those unaware, the Civilization franchise has sold more than 70 million copies worldwide.

2K and Hangar 13 said in a statement:
