In 2007, Hideaki Anno planned, wrote, and directed the film series Rebuild of Evangelion, which retells the original work. The three films in the series, Evangelion: 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone, Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, and Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, achieved substantial success and expanded their fan base.
