After the Patch S1.15.1 maintenance on January 9, 2025, League of Legends (LoL) and Teamfight Tactics (TFT) developer Riot Games completed merging servers in Southeast Asia (SEA), including the Philippines, Thailand, and Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia.
Riot Games first announced the LoL SEA server merge in November 2024 and said it would result in "better matchmaking, shorter queue times, and a truly united SEA League experience." Riot noted that players do not need to take any action for the merge. Most account details will transfer over except Clash records. It also added that players in the Philippines and Thailand may experience an increase in ping, "20ms or so."
However, since the start of the merger, most Filipino League players on social media have been complaining about several issues with ping, login, disconnection, and Riot ID prompt.
Login Issue
Several LoL players experienced this login issue at the start of the merged SEA server:
Unable to connect to the login queue. The platform may be down for maintenance.
Regarding this problem, Riot advised players to wait to "just sit back and patch" and noted as soon as their account is rolled over to the merged server, they'll no longer be able to access their old local server. The old servers will also be inaccessible during the patch downtime.
High Ping
With SEA servers merged, many League of Legends players have encountered high ping issues, which causes noticeable lag in-game and frustrates them.
Users of fiber internet services from Philippine ISPs such as PLDT, Globe (GFiber), and Converge (FiberX) are having ping spikes, around 50-60ms, while others are experiencing ping as high as 100ms.
The players' feedback on the high ping is divided. Some say the 50 ms ping is still okay and playable. Others say the gameplay is not as smooth as it used to be. It used to respond quickly to clicks for movement, and there were no stutters.
Previously, when LoL PH was transferred from Garena to Riot Games, most players also faced high ping issues (up to 200ms), but this was then resolved when local servers were deployed, which resulted in a very good ping (latency), around 1-10ms.

"Create your Riot ID" Prompt
At the beginning of the merged SEA server, some LoL players encountered this "Create your Riot ID" pop-up when logging in, telling them to enter their "Game Name" and "Tagline." They thought that their accounts were lost/deleted.
Riot provided a fix for this issue:
If you use the default tagline/hashtag PH2 before the SEA server merge, you will be asked to change your name because the individual server code isn't needed anymore. Just change the tagline/hashtag of your old Riot ID.
What can you say about this LoL SEA server merge? Was it a smooth experience for you, or are you also one of those who encountered problems and errors? Leave your comments or questions below, and I will try to respond to them.
