Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 Update is coming. Marvel Games and NetEase Games announced that the continuation of the hero shooter's second season will be released on May 30, 2025, introducing Ultron, a Strategist hero, and the new Arakko map. The latest patch will also bring new features, special in-game events, and Team-Ups.
The full details of the Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 patch notes were explained in the Dev Vision episode 6: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXtEMrHcLDA.
New Hero and Map
Ultron, the ultimate artificial lifeform, is designed to learn and adapt in ways that are far more advanced than those of humans. His chances of winning are greatly increased by his ability to call forth an army of automated drones that follow his every instruction.
The mutants of Krakoa had some of their most difficult days to date following Ultron's surprise attack that destroyed the Hellfire Gala. Ultron has since taken their Cerebro, changed into the even more powerful X-Tron, and fled to Arakko, his new stronghold. Ultron has turned Arakko, the sister island of Krakoa, into a harsh, icy mechanical world that has lost all of its life.
However, the grueling battle is far from over. In order to save Arakko, heroes must now band together with Krakoa after their setback.
More Season 2.5 Update Highlights
For the new season, Marvel Rivals is improving the Team-Up Ability system to make battles more strategic and exciting. In this update, the team will add six new Team-Up Abilities, remove four, and adjust one. By Season 2.5, over 50 percent of Team-Up Abilities will have changed since Season 0. Due to popular demand, the hero shooter game will introduce the Jeff-nado Team-Up Ability.
With the launch of Season 2.5, Marvel Rivals will also introduce a new feature that shows hero proficiency avatars in the pre-match hero selection screen. Further, the game will add two new personalization systems: Mood and Emojis.
On June 6, 2025, an exciting new experimental mode called Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol will be available for a limited time. In this game mode, six players can select their own hero lineups, create custom builds, and improve their heroes' traits. Players will then battle against each other for a chance to win. This mode is a test for the development team to see how they can better meet players' desires for Marvel Super Heroes and Super Villains. Players will have the opportunity to control a wider range of characters and boost their stats and skills.
