The release date of Wu Zetian, the Celestial Empress, is on June 18, 2025, developer Moonton Games revealed. This highly awaited mage hero can be unlocked for free. Simply complete in-game activities available during the Phoenix Empress Rising patch from June 18 to July 4. Unlock Zetian in 8 days minimum.

Hero Overview
Reborn phoenix empress Wu Zetian has a millennia-old legend. In the Land of Dawn, she combines powerful spellcasting and utility. She wields vast magic and royal grace to alter the tide of combat with her phoenix spirit control.
Wu Zetian, the founder of the Divine Capital, reigns again to bring unprecedented peace and prosperity to a blossoming kingdom. Now that its returning sovereign's reawakening is real, all eyes are on Shendu. This Empress governs whatever she sees, whether from the backline or descending down with her global ultimate.
Abilities and Gameplay
Mid-lane mage hero Wu Zetian controls the battlefield with large-area crowd control (CC), sustained spell damage, and a disruptive global ultimate.
Her skill set favors accurate casting and strategic aggressiveness, making her excellent for players who like to control the battle and empower their squad.
Here are Zetian's abilities.
- Passive - Celestial Armament
- This passive skill consists of two parts.
- Phoenix Crown - gives her extra Spell Vamp when she hits enemy heroes with her 1st and 2nd skills. This effect can stack.
- Celestial Robe - periodically protects her with the power of the Phoenix Spirit. When enemies get too close, it knocks them back, stuns them, and deals Magic Damage. It also grants Zetian a shield. This effect has a cooldown of 2 minutes.
- Skill 1 – Phoenix Strike
- Zetian sends out a Phoenix Wave in the chosen direction. If it hits an enemy, she will automatically fire another wave (up to three waves). The last Phoenix Wave does more damage, has a bigger Area of Effect (AoE), and pulls opponents in the opposite direction.
- Skill 2 – Phoenix Descent
- Zetian summons her Phoenix Spirit to a target location. It deals Magic Damage to enemies nearby and slows them down. The Phoenix Spirit then hovers for 3 seconds, continuing to damage enemies and reduce their Magic Defense. You can recast this skill to send the Phoenix Spirit to a new spot, inflicting Magic Damage and slowing enemies again.
- Ultimate Skill – Fury of the Phoenix
- Zetian grants allies a progressively decaying movement speed boost. She also unleashes Magic Damage and stuns enemies with her raining divine retribution.

Wu Zetian begins her story as a nameless orphan on the brink of obscurity. After returning to the Lake of Reflection, her first recollection, she discovers her actual identity as the founder of the Divine Capital, long forgotten.
