China's AG.AL won the Honor of Kings World Cup, defeating fellow Chinese team TT Global, 4-3, in the KWC grand final at the 2025 Esports World Cup (EWC) in Riyadh on July 26.
As champions, AG.AL took home the trophy and the grand prize of USD 750k from the massive USD 3 million prize pool. They also became the 10th different team to win a championship at the 2025 EWC.
Since AG.AL and TT Global were the only Chinese HoK teams competing, they were the favorites. To recall, China's King Pro League's fan-voted super team won last year's Esports World Cup, making it the top Honor of Kings region.
This year, the two Chinese teams easily defeated their playoff opponents. AG.AL took down Alpha7 Esports and Twisted Minds without dropping a map, while TT Global eliminated Team Vitality and NOVA Esports.
Everyone anticipated the KWC 2025 grand final battle between the two Chinese teams, and it did not disappoint. TT Global was able to establish a 3-1 lead, which placed them on championship point. However, AG.AL rallied to level the scores and force a winner-takes-all final match. Ultimately, AG Super Play clinched one of the tightest Esports World Cup series.
Bicheng "YiNuo" Xu, AG.AL bottom laner, said:
I feel extremely happy, and I would like to give a huge applause to all my teammates; we did make a miracle happen. We showed our persistence and perseverance during those times when we were losing and behind.
Jiahao "Zoe" Chen, AG.AL jungler, was declared the SONY MVP following the squad's outstanding comeback win in the finals. He received an additional USD 10,000 and the Finals MVP medal to recognize his achievements.
AG.AL International gained 1000 Club Championship points for winning KWC 2025, putting them in second place after finishing second in League of Legends (LoL) and fifth in Free Fire.
The victory also grants the Chinese organization All Gamers the opportunity to win the entire Club Championship if they accumulate sufficient points to secure the top spot on the table at the conclusion of the Esports World Cup 2025.
On the other hand, our Philippine representatives (from HoK PKL Spring) concluded their KWC 2025 run with the following positions: BOOM Esports (11th-14th), Blacklist International (15th-18th), and A.C.T. Esports Club (15th-18th). – PinoyTechSaga
