Globe expands GFiber reach, now has 1.83M subscribers

Globe GFiber subscribers are increasing continuously. The fiber broadband service now has 1.83M users as of Q1 2025, including 400K homes on GFiber Prepaid (up 53 percent QoQ).

Digital Inclusion

Globe Telecom is deliberately increasing fiber internet access to reinforce digital inclusion by using existing network capacity. Globe is helping more Filipino homes and small businesses join the digital future through targeted investments and customer knowledge.

Globe Telecom President and CEO Carl Cruz stated:
Fixed broadband continues to be a growth engine for the business. We see user data consumption now surging past 30GB/month per user. We are fine-tuning our fiber strategy to more than connectivity; it's about empowering households, enabling SMEs, and growing the digital economy.

The Digital 2025 Report says Filipinos spend nearly 9 hours online daily. High-quality broadband is more important than ever because digital services are now essential to daily life. As of 2024, just 33 percent of households had fixed broadband connectivity, according to the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

Globe is meeting demand with its expanding postpaid GFiber plans and contract-free, reloadable GFiber Prepaid. The telco has 1.83 million broadband subscribers in Q1 2025, with GFiber Prepaid rising 53 percent quarter-on-quarter to reach 400,000 homes in the Philippines.

Cruz noted:
We're building more than infrastructure, we're enabling opportunity. By expanding access to reliable broadband, we're opening doors for millions of Filipinos to participate meaningfully in the digital economy.

Focused GFiber Expansion

Globe supports national digital goals like the DICT's National Broadband Plan and Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) programs. It promotes digital equity and inclusive economic participation by concentrating on high-need, high-impact locations.

Globe is closing coverage gaps and improving network scalability and efficiency by migrating from fixed wireless and wired to fiber in specified regions and participating in shared infrastructure projects.

Globe has connected over 600 towns in 70 provinces across the Philippines to full fiber, eliminating copper lines. This change improves residents' internet speed and helps Globe's sustainability goals of reducing environmental damage and illegal salvaging.

Cruz shared:
Modernization is one of Globe's key success factors. When we made the leap from 2G to 4G, it unlocked massive gains. Now, we're continuing that momentum not just for speed, but for service equity and sustainability.
