League of Legends Dev Update on 3/3/2026 unveiled details on upcoming changes in the MOBA game.
In the 12-minute Dev Update video, LoL developers Andrei "Meddler" Van Roon, Paul "Pabro" Bellezza, and Ed "Riot Memurr" Zhao talked about Season 1 gameplay changes, Shyvana's Visual and Gameplay Update (VGU), Ranked MMR distribution adjustments, ARAM Mayhem extension, and more.
Season 1 Gameplay Changes
Per the League of Legends team, they were "satisfied" with Season 1 gameplay changes after some tweaks.
They said they are monitoring Faelights' performance, as well as ADC and top-lane power levels.
After Stormrazor and Hextech Gunblade returned, the team is accepting player suggestions for future items.
This season, lobby dodges have fallen from 19% to 4% and player entry time has dropped by 30%.
Ranked MMR Distribution Adjustments
Matchmaking Rating (MMR) distribution has been adjusted to address Ranked ladder difficulties at the bottom and top.
Changes were made to move more veteran players from Iron to Bronze because League of Legends wants Iron to be a venue for new players.
The skill gap between Diamond IV and Diamond I was similar to that between Bronze IV and high Silver, hence the upper end of Diamond was shifted to Master.
Further, the MMR range for Master has expanded, raising the League Points (LP) needed for peak tiers.
The team is considering adding divisions or tiers at the top and bottom of the Ranked ladder.
Shyvana - Visual and Gameplay Update
Shyvana's VGU rework is confirmed to be released on Patch 26.6. The indicated date for that update is March 18, 2026, per the League of Legends - Patch Schedule page.
The team worked with the mains of the half-dragon champion to keep their favorite design and character elements and improve on their suggestions.
All Shyvana skins and a limited-time Leg Day Bundle will be available.
Her artwork, model, skills, playstyle, and Runeterra lore have been updated.
Half-dragon fighter Shyvana is terrifying. She breathes fire and dominates the skies as a dragon, yet is human. Shyvana, who saved Prince Jarvan IV, now serves in his royal guard, striving to fit in with Demacia's skeptical populace.
Here are the revamped abilities of Shyvana, from passive to ultimate.
- Passive - Scalemail: Takedowns on enemy champs, large minions/monsters grant stacks for improved defenses. Amplifies W shield; grants bonus health in dragon form.
- Q - Emberstrike: Next AA hits target + AoE. Recastable (speeds up with attacks; resets AA). Dragon: Extra recast for massive single-target damage.
- W - Inferno Aegis: Gains shield (scales with passive), Movement Speed; delayed AoE detonation. Dragon: Heals on explosion vs. champ/monster.
- E - Molten Burst: Fireball explodes on a large target + slow. Dragon: Passes through large enemies, explodes + fire trail.
- R - Dragon's Descent: Transform + leap forward: Fear path. Larger size; empowers basics (scale with R rank).
Formerly, her skills were Fury of the Dragonborn (Passive), Twin Bite (Q), Burnout (W), Flame Breath (E), and Dragon's Descent (ultimate with still the same name).
ARAM Mayhem Extended
The team will bring additional content and balance adjustments to ARAM Mayhem after receiving overwhelming positive user feedback.
ARAM Mayhem is also being extended without a definitive end date.
At the latter part of the Dev Update, the League of Legends team presented community creations and addressed inquiries from players, including WASD in Ranked, Twisted Treeline, and TrueSkill 2. One of the highlights was the confirmation that, despite the absence of a new champion in Season 1, one will be released in Season 2 and will be consistent with their thematics.
For avid LoL players like me who prefer short matches, I'm more than excited to see upcoming updates to ARAM Mayhem, from balances to augments. – PinoyTechSaga
