Realme Philippines, through its Facebook page, has announced that Realme 8, 8 5G, and 8 Pro users can now extend their RAM virtually. Users need to have the August 2021 software update first to enable this new feature.
Additionally, it laid out the instructions on how to use the Extended RAM. Users can go to Settings > About Phone > RAM.
With the new Dynamic RAM expansion feature, the Realme 8 series lineup can now be virtually increased their RAM size by 2GB, 3GB, and 5GB, respectively.
Dynamic RAM Expansion works by taking up the phone’s internal storage and allocating it as ‘virtual RAM,’ which is relatively the same as Virtual Memory on computers. It is a software trick that doesn’t need an additional RAM stick.
This new technology can boost the phone’s RAM, allowing more programs to be stored in memory and making the user interface considerably smoother and snappier. However, it’s not as fast as the default RAM of your smartphone.
Along with the Extended RAM feature, the August 2021 Realme UI 2.0 OTA update for the Realme 8 series brings July 2021 Android security patch and several fixes on the system and photos app.
The update will roll out by batch. To check for updates, go to Settings > Software Update, and you’ll be able to see if the update is available for you.
