Xiaomi has announced that it is set to release the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition to select Mi 11 and Mi 10 models globally in Q4 2021, following the earlier launch of the software in China.
According to Xiaomi, MIUI 12.5 Enhanced is basically an upgrade based on MIUI 12.5 unveiled in December 2020. This new software upgrade focuses on system optimizations offering faster performance and a lower power consumption experience than the predecessor.
The following is the list of initial Xiaomi devices to receive MIUI 12.5 Enhanced update in the fourth quarter of 2021 (October-December):
- Xiaomi Mi 11
- Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra
- Xiaomi Mi 11i
- Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro
- Xiaomi Mi 11X
- Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro 5G
- Xiaomi Mi 10T 5G
- Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro 5G
- Xiaomi Mi 10 5G
More phones are expected to be included in the list. Xiaomi will post an update to the MIUI Community for it.
For its main features, MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition brings several performance-related tweaks as well as fixes.
First is the “Liquid Storage” feature. It will preserve the internal memory in peak condition, hence extending its life. Xiaomi claims that the read/write performance would decline by only 5% after 36 months of use.
There’s also the “Atomized Memory” tweak. It optimizes RAM consumption to enable the phone to run more applications in the background.
Lastly is the “Focused algorithms” update. The new algorithms will dynamically distribute system resources according to usage patterns, delivering a smooth user experience. It can reduce CPU utilization by up to 15% and battery consumption by up to 8% in specific cases.
Moreover, Xiaomi said during the Chinese launch that MIUI 12.5 Enhanced also addressed 160 system issues and over 220 issues with system apps.
