Blacklist’s Kiel “OHEB” Soriano is given a two-game ban and a fine of USD 500 (around PHP 25,200) by Mobile Legends Professional League Philippines after flashing the middle finger following their 2-0 victory over Omega Esports on Saturday, October 9, in MPL PH Season 8.
In a statement released on October 10, Mobile Legends Professional League Philippines (MPL PH) said OHEB violated the league’s rules for “making a probited pose” with the obscene middle-finger gesture.
“MPL PH Operating Committee does not tolerate any form of abusive behavior in the league and we expect our professional players to follow a strict code of conduct,” said MPL PH.
Before this MPL PH announcement, Tier One-led squad Blacklist has apologized to their fans and the Mobile Legends community for the unsportsmanlike behavior of their player OHEB.
Moreover, OHEB was given an undisclosed amount of fine by Blacklist International. The esports organization also mentioned that Oheb acknowledged his behavior and immediately apologized to the rest of the team and the management.
“I will accept the consequences of what I have done — penalty or whatever.” said Oheb in Tagalog in the team’s post-match interview. “I can assure all of you that I will never do this again. Sorry.”
With Oheb out for 2 matches, he will miss Blacklist’s final regular-season match against Bren Esports, as well as their first playoff series.
To recall, Omega, which acquired its lineup from Execration, and Blacklist have had a rivalry since Season 7.
Blacklist defeated Execration for the MPL PH S7 championship after making an unexpected comeback in the grand finals, rallying from a 1-3 deficit to earn the team’s first title.
Their conflict took a different turn, however, when Omega’s Duane “Kelra” Pillas made sexist remarks towards Blacklist formidable duo Johnmar “OhMyV33nus” Villaluna and Danerie “Wise” del Rosario.
Kelra was suspended for two weeks at the start of MPL PH S8 and fined an undisclosed amount.
