

Eastern European underdogs Team Spirit have been crowned the champions of The International 10 after they defeated Chinese powerhouse PSG.LGD, 3-2, in nail-biting best-of-5 grand finals on October 17, 2021.
Team Spirit began Game 1 of the finals on a high note, dominating PSG.LGD in a 38-minute game that ended with a landslide 15-5 kill advantage for the Eastern European dark horses. Spirit’s carry player, Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk, paced his team’s sizzling start with a no-death record 8-0-3 (K-D-A).
Continuing their momentum, Team Spirit outplayed their opponents in a grueling 40-minute match in Game 2 to take a commanding 2-0 streak in the series. Spirit’s offlaner Magomed “Collapse” Khalilov on his best pick Magnus, consistently ruining PSG.LGD’s placement in team battles with his hero’s infamous Blink into Horn Toss and Skewer combo. He made the biggest assist in the match with a 2-0-20 (K-D-A) record.
Game 3 saw PSGLGD making a resurgence with Wang “Ame” Chunyu’s Spectre and Cheng “NothingToSay” Jin Xiang’s Tinker, recording 15 and 14 kills, respectively. PSG.LGD, concluding the game at the 50-minute mark, earned their first win of the series, forcing the finals to a pivotal fourth game.
With Ame’s Luna dominating Game 4, PSG.LGD crushed Team Spirit in the 24-minute mark and made the series tied 2-2. The Chinese team’s combined 23 kills against 2 deaths lead them to force the finals to a decisive game five.
Team Spirit went all-in on Game 5 by picking Terrorblade for Yatoro, Magnus for Collapse, Winter Wyvern for Miposhka, Ember Spirit for TORONTOTOKYO, and Bane for Mira. Spirit put on their best performance, wreaking havoc on PSG.LGD’s Tiny-Lycan-Kunkka-Skywrath-Enchantress lineup. Chinese team’s attempt to reclaim the game ended with Ame’s death without buyback, Team Spirit marched strongly and destroyed their opponents’ Ancient in the 36-minute mark of the game, securing a 3-2 victory in the TI10 grand finals.
With their victory, Team Spirit took home USD 18,208,300 (~PHP 926 million) from the prize pool of more than USD 40 million (~PHP 2 billion). Meanwhile, runners-up PSG.LGD bagged USD 5,202,400 (~PHP 264 million).
