Europe-based squad Team Spirit crushed the two-time TI champions OG Esports, 2-0, in the elimination match of Dota 2 The International 10 (TI10) on October 15 (Friday). After suffering defeat from Team Spirit, OG’s hope of a three-peat completely vanished.
Team Spirit offlaner Magomed “Collapse” Khalilov led the upset against OG with his Magnus.
In Game 1, Collapse proved to be the game-changer, as his precise Skewer and Reverse Polarity placements during clashes gave his team the advantage. He made clutch plays, including sending Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan’s Tiny into their fountain, which resulted in a kill. Team Spirit finished the first game in the 45-minute mark, recording a 1-0 score in the best-of-three series.
Continuing their dominance, Team Spirit outplayed OG in Game 2 as they took first blood on Topson in less than a minute. It was followed by an Ultra Kill when Team Spirit, led by Alexander “TORONTOTOKYO” Khertek on his Void Spirit, swept OG in the 20-minute mark of the game. TORONTOTOKYO also typed “ez game” after the clash, which was unusual for players in the professional scene. The squad ultimately ended the game in under 30 minutes, with a 2-0 record.
For their next series, Team Spirit will battle it out against fellow Russian team Virtus Pro later in the day.
With their loss, OG finished 7th-8th in TI10 with a consolation prize of USD 1,000,500.
