No more Dota 2 teams with PH players are advancing TI10
There will be no more Dota 2 teams with Filipino players are advancing at The International 10 (TI10), the game’s biggest tournament. These teams that exited the competition are T1, Evil Geniuses (EG), and Fnatic.
From the most recent match, T1 against Vici Gaming in the Lower Bracket Round 3. Southeast Asian squad T1 lost to China’s Vici Gaming, 2-1, on October 15.
T1 dominated Game 1 with the outstanding performance of Karl’s Lina. Still, they were unable to clinch the series after dropping two consecutive games.
Another team with PH player that Vici Gaming took down is the North American squad Evil Geniuses (EG), 2-1. Evil Geniuses were eliminated from TI10 on October 14 after losing to Chinese team Vici Gaming in the Lower Bracket Round 2.
EG quickly ended Game 1 under 23 minutes. However, they failed to secure the series after dropping two games in a row.
The first Dota 2 team with Pinoy players in its lineup that bowed out TI10 is the Southeast Asia-based esports organization Fnatic. Russia-based Team Spirit swept the squad, 2-0, in the Lower Bracket Round 2.
Fnatic could not overcome Team Spirit in Game 1 and Game 2 as Team Spirit’s Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk’s solid performance dominated both games.
The ranking and prizes received by the Dota 2 teams with PH players are as follows:
  • T1 – 7th-8th – USD 1,000,500 (around PHP 50 million)
  • Evil Geniuses – 9th-12th – USD 800,400 (around PHP 40 million)
  • Fnatic – 9th-12th – USD 800,400 (around PHP 40 million)
Here are the Filipino players included in the rosters of the abovementioned Dota 2 teams:
  • T1 – Karl Baldovino and Carlo “Kuku” Palad
  • Evil Geniuses – Abed Yusop
  • Fnatic – Marc Polo Luis “Raven” Fausto and Djardel “DJ” Mampusti
