Internet analytics company Ookla has released its Market Analysis for Q3 2021 for mobile, showing the top telcos in the Philippines in terms of Ookla’s metrics called Speed Score.
According to its latest report, Smart emerged as the fastest mobile operator among other telcos in the Philippines for Q3 2021.
Smart recorded a Speed Score of 59.71. It was followed by Globe with 28.38, and DITO at 25.34.
In terms of latency (a measure of delay measured in milliseconds), Smart also tops the list with the lowest Median Latency at 20ms, followed by DITO at 24ms. Globe came third place with 25ms.
Lower latency is better, meaning you will have a smooth internet experience, no buffering while streaming, and no lags while gaming.
Meanwhile, Ookla also included a list of key cities in the Philippines that showed the fastest median mobile download speed for Q3 2021. Caloocan leads with 22.05 Mbps, followed by Quezon City (20.93 Mbps), Manila (18.80 Mbps), Cebu (15.09 Mbps) and Davao City (14.23 Mbps).
Ookla’s Speed Score ranks network performance by incorporating a measure of each provider’s download and upload speeds. The 90 percent of the final Speed Score is attributed to download speed and the remaining 10 percent to upload speed. It also uses a modified trimean to weight the 10th percentile, 50th percentile (also known as the median), and 90th percentile speeds in a 1:8:1 ratio.
