Square Enix revealed that the mobile game of its famous anime series Fullmetal Alchemist will launch in Japan on Android and iOS in summer 2022 as a free-to-play title with optional in-game purchases.
The Japanese game company unveiled a promotional teaser for “Fullmetal Alchemist Mobile” on December 17, showing the anime series’ protagonist brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, and other iconic characters such as Roy Mustang and Winry Rockbell. The nearly 2-minute trailer also showed a glimpse of the gameplay, which appears to be a fighting game with a tag team element.
Fullmetal Alchemist Mobile relives the Fullmetal Alchemist story through new animated scenes and 3D computer graphics (CG). The battle sequences are rendered in 3D CG to emulate the anime’s intensity. Pre-registration is currently accessible on the game’s official website.
The game was first announced in July 2021 as part of the anime series’ 20th-anniversary celebration.
“Fullmetal Alchemist,” the original manga by Hiromu Arakawa, revolves around the journey of two brothers, Edward and Alphonse, as they seek to reclaim their natural bodies following the alchemy taboo of human transmutation.
The manga was serialized in Monthly Shonen Gangan from 2001 to 2010. It was adapted into an anime in 2003, followed by a reboot in 2009 entitled “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.”
