NA’s BTK stuns Blacklist, sends PH squad to M3 lower bracket playoffs

Before entering the upper bracket quarterfinals, Blacklist has swept the group stage, 3-0, showing its domination. However, this loss against BTK sends the Philippine squad to the M3 lower bracket playoffs.

BTK started Game 1 with a dominant performance, finishing the match under 16 minutes with a landslide 14 kills against 5 of Blacklist. Michael “MobaZane” Cosgun’s unorthodox pick of Saber as jungle led him to be the MVP for Game 1 with 9 kills and 5 assists.

Blacklist bounced back in Game 2 as they picked a tanky Hylos for jungler Danerie “Wise” James Del Rosario and flaunted aggressive gameplay. The Tier One-led team finished the second game with a 15-3 kill lead against BTK in under 12 minutes of play, making the series tied 1-1.

Game 3 was a seesaw fight between the two teams, but eventually, Blacklist International emerged victorious with a 16-14 kill advantage against BTK to reach match point 2-1.

In pivotal Game 4, BTK stunned Blacklist International, posting a 14-7 kill score at the 15-minute mark to force a decider match 2-2.

Continuing their momentum, BTK ultimately crashed Blacklist International in Game 5 in under 13 minutes of action, recording a 12-4 kill result.

With their victory, BTK secured a spot for the semi-finals. The North American underdogs will be up against the winner of the quarterfinals bout between Bedel and EVOS SG in the semi-finals on December 16.

Meanwhile, MPL PH S8 champs Blacklist International have been sunk to the second round of the lower bracket and will be facing the victor of the elimination match between Team SMG and ONIC Esports. The Lower Round 2 match is set for December 14.
